Happy World Bee Day! 🐝

Bees and other pollinators are essential to Pennsylvania’s agriculture, ecosystems, and food supply. From orchards and farms to backyard gardens, these small but mighty creatures help keep our landscapes thriving.

But pollinators face growing challenges—from habitat loss to pesticide exposure. That’s where conservation makes a difference.

Across the Commonwealth, conservation districts are working with landowners and communities to:
🌼 Plant native pollinator habitats
🌼 Promote sustainable land management practices
🌼 Protect clean water and healthy soil

You can help, too! Consider planting native flowers, reducing pesticide use, and creating a pollinator-friendly space at home.

Together, we can protect Pennsylvania’s pollinators—and the vital role they play in our everyday lives.

Happy Pennsylvania!

PA is home to diverse native plants, trees, insects, fish, birds, and mammals that originated thousands of years ago and thrive in mutual dependence. This native ecosystem provides us with natural resources that benefit our lives by enabling agricultural food production, recreation, fisheries, timber, and more.

By planting native species in our gardens and yards, we create vital food and shelter for native wildlife and pollinators critical to our food supply.

Today, staff from the JCCD conducted routine water sampling of the Redbank North Fork Creek and Tributaries. Water Sampling has been conducted for over 25 years, beginning with the North Fork Watershed Association members. The sampling provides a snapshot view of how healthy the watershed is. During the sampling, staff were fortunate to encounter a Wood Turtle, listed as a species of special concern in Pennsylvania.
