Artist in Residence: Motus Theater Storytelling Workshop

📅Thursday, Oct. 8 at 6:30 p.m. in the Eisenhower Room, Broomfield Library

Join Motus Theater and Motus Strategist Alejandro Fuentes Mena for an interactive storytelling workshop exploring identity, courage and community. Alejandro will open with a short autobiographical monologue from Motus Theater’s "ImmigrantAmerica" project, modeling what it means to share personal stories with honesty and bravery.

Participants will then engage in an embodied writing experience designed to help uncover parts of ourselves that are often overlooked or diminished and reframe them as sources of strength. Together, participants will explore how our lived experiences shape who we are and how we show up in our communities.

This month's Sew Social Meetup is all about getting to know your sewing machine. Learn about sewing machine basics and maintenance. Skills covered will include threading a machine and winding a bobbin, selecting and customizing stitches and basic maintenance.

Empowered Parenting: Supporting Children with ADHD at School and Home

Parenting a child with ADHD? Join certified ADHD coach Tonya Hanson for an informative session on how to best support your child both at home and in the classroom.

Key topics covered include:
- The science behind ADHD
- Supports and accommodations offered at schools
- Practical strategies to empower your child

This workshop is designed for adult caregivers, features a dedicated Q&A session at the end, and provides helpful resources to take home. No official diagnosis is needed to attend.

Sixth through Eighth Grade Book Club!

Join other sixth through eighth graders on the second Wednesday of September, October and December to talk about a great book, enjoy snacks and have fun! At the end of each meeting, members will vote on the book to read for the following month. For September, the book club is reading "Starfish" by Lisa Fipps!

The Concrete Poetry Public Art Project kicks off this week with a poetry writing workshop from Pikes Peak Region Poet Laureate Ashley Cornelius!

📅Wednesday, Sept. 2 at 6:30 p.m. at the Broomfield Library

This workshop will explore the power of joy as a tool for resistance and transformation. Using their senses, participants will explore their unique writing styles and perspectives. Through writing prompts and group discussions, participants will uncover their own sources of joy and cultivate a sense of hope and resilience.

Gather the family and bring your lawn chair to check out the Shakespeare in the Parking Lot performance of "A Midsummer Night’s Dream!"

📅Saturday, Sept. 26 at 2 p.m. in the Broomfield Library Parking Lot

Shakespeare in the Parking Lot is exactly what it sounds like—a 45-minute abridged performance of "A Midsummer Night’s Dream" that takes place in and around a pick-up truck “set” provided by the Denver Center for the Performing Arts. The performance will be followed by a brief and interactive community discussion led by cast members, which helps community members connect themes of the play to contemporary issues that still impact our society today.

Don't have a card yet? You can sign up on-site! Returned items can go straight back into the cabinet so you can grab another before heading home.
