Bottom line: Broomfield’s current lodging tax is lower than those of Westminster, Thornton and Boulder. The proposed 6% rate would bring Broomfield closer to neighboring communities.

We recommend voting NO on Prop 132, which increases mandatory minimum sentencing for possession of fentanyl. Here's why: The "war on drugs" has failed. Drug addicts need treatment, not harsh, mandatory minimum convictions that offer judges zero flexibility to consider the circumstances of each case. These sorts of convictions should be for bank robbers and murderers, not someone who took one pill their friend handed to them at a party. Also, it's weird this measure only talks about fentanyl. What about all the other drugs out there?

Our party believes Fentanyl is a serious crisis and we want to do something about it. But this measure is not the way. We are going to need to do a lot of other things instead of just "lock em' up more" using taxpayer dollars to get the situation under control. There are plenty of laws on the books we can already use to go after drug dealers and cartels when we need to, but going after the addicts who are the victims is not going to solve this crisis.

Tomorrow, Monday Oct 26th, is the last day it's recommended to return your ballot by mail to ensure it's counted. Or, do you feel more comfortable dropping off your ballot yourself and not sending it through the postal service? After Monday, it's recommended that you return your ballot in a drop box, or visit one of the voter service centers to vote in person. If you have lost your ballot, visit the voter service center to vote in person or request a new ballot. It's also not too late to register to vote in this election if you visit the voter service center.

Northglenn Middle school has 40 kids in their 8th grade class! Although an extreme example, class sizes are generally too large around the entire state. That's why we need more teachers! But, to hire more teachers, schools first need money. That's one big reason why we need to vote YES on Proposition NN. We need the money to fund our schools. Our children are the most important investment we will ever make into the future.

The ballot question posed by the statehouse asks voters to give up TABOR refunds for additional school funding.
