LookoutAlert will conduct a system-wide emergency notification test on Wednesday, June 3, beginning in the morning hours. 📢

The test is designed to confirm readiness and delivery across the LookoutAlert service area, including Clear Creek County, Jefferson County, the City and County of Broomfield and the City of Westminster.

Those signed up for LookoutAlert should receive a test message via text, email, voice call or through the Wireless Emergency Alert (WEA) system. The message is expected to read:
“TEST LookoutAlert for Clear Creek, Jeffco, Broomfield and Westminster. No action needed.”

The alert may make a loud notification sound, even if your device is on silent. No action is needed. This is only a test of the emergency alert system.

Not every person will receive every type of alert during the test. Delivery may depend on device settings, wireless carrier participation, phone location, registration information and other technical factors. Receiving or not receiving a test message does not necessarily mean a phone or account is not working. The test is designed to help identify opportunities to continue improving emergency notification delivery.

Community members are encouraged to use this opportunity to confirm they are signed up for LookoutAlert and that their contact information is current. Residents can register or update their information at Broomfield.org/LookoutAlert.

Way to represent, Broomfield! 🏃🔥

A huge thank you to everyone who participated in this year's Torch Run and proudly represented the Broomfield Police Department. Whether you ran, walked, donated, fundraised or cheered from the sidelines, your support made a tremendous impact.

Together, we raised $1,670, surpassing our goal of $1,500, and earned the distinction of being the #2 top fundraising team in this year's Torch Run.

A special congratulations goes to Teri Miller, who finished as the #2 overall individual fundraiser. We are grateful for every member of our team who helped make this event a success. Your dedication, generosity, and community spirit continue to make Broomfield proud.

Big congratulations to Broomfield K9 Officer Cornett and K9 Zohan for being awarded the National Police Canine Association’s “Detection Case of the Quarter” for the Northwest Region – First Quarter 2026! 👏

Earlier this year, the team helped seize a significant amount of illegal drugs and recover a stolen gun during a traffic stop, showcasing the incredible work and dedication of our K9 Unit.

K9 Zohan has since officially retired from service after an outstanding career with the department. Thank you, Zohan, for your years of hard work and loyal service to the Broomfield community.

Officer Cornett is now partnered with a new pup, K9 Louie, and we can’t wait to see what this new team accomplishes together!

Congratulations to the graduates of the 2026 Broomfield Police Department Community Academy! 🎓👏

Over the past 10 weeks, this incredible group dedicated their time to getting an inside look at what happens behind the scenes at the police department. From ride-alongs with officers and meeting the K-9 Unit to touring the detention center, driving a police cruiser, hearing from detectives, and learning about the Crime Scene Unit — they experienced it all and so much more.

Thank you for your commitment, curiosity, and engagement throughout the program. It was truly a pleasure getting to know each and every one of you. We appreciate your support of the Broomfield Police Department and our community! 💙🚔

Significant Drug Seizure During Late-Night Traffic Stop! Just before 10 p.m. on Friday, May 22, 2026, an officer with the Broomfield Police Department conducted a traffic stop near W. 136th Avenue and Zuni Street after observing a vehicle with a rear taillight and brake light that were not functioning.

While speaking with the driver, the officer observed items associated with illegal narcotics use in plain view. A subsequent investigation led to the discovery of more than 211 grams of methamphetamine hidden in the vehicle.

The 27-year-old male driver and 28-year-old female passenger were both arrested and booked into the Broomfield Detention Center on multiple charges. This case is another reminder that proactive policing and routine traffic enforcement play an important role in keeping dangerous drugs out of our community. *All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Unexpected passenger! 🐾🚚 This friendly marmot hitched a ride inside the frame of a truck all the way from Lake City, CO earlier this week. After a couple of hours of careful work, Animal Services Officers were finally able to safely get him out using a catch pole. The little traveler was then transported to the Greenwood Wildlife Rehabilitation Center where he'll be assessed before being returned home. Poor guy, one minute he's in Lake City and the next he's in Broomfield!
