Summer Reading is going on now at the Brown Deer Public Library!
Why participate in summer reading? The benefits to take part in a summer reading program include:
* Prevents Learning Loss: Regular reading time preserves critical decoding, fluency, and comprehension skills so kids don't fall behind.
* Builds Vocabulary and Understanding: Daily reading exposes kids to new words and sentence structures, which helps improve their communication skills.
* Fosters Lifelong Habits: By choosing books, graphic novels, magazines, or audiobooks that they actually enjoy, kids learn that reading can be a fun activity.
* Sparks Imagination and Empathy: Books transport children to new worlds, introducing them to diverse cultures, perspectives, and ideas.
* Strengthens Family Bonds: Reading together or discussing stories and themes/ideas builds meaningful connections between parents and their children.
