BDPD has recently experienced an increase in car thefts and theft attempts at apartment complexes in the Village. Report any suspicious activity immediately and remember to lock your cars and remove all valuables at night. The HYUNDAI Elantra and Sonata models, and the KIA Sportage and Soul models have been specially targeted by the car thieves. #SeeSomethingSaySomething

The Brown Deer Police Department welcomed assessors from the Wisconsin Law Enforcement Accreditation Group (WILEAG) on May 11-13, 2021, to evaluate the policies and practices of our police department. WILEAG requires compliance with 242 standards ensuring adherence to the best police practices.

The Department has been accredited since 2009, and is reassessed every three years. We thank Chief Thomas Frank, Cedarburg, Captain Daniel Fournier, South Milwaukee, and Lieutenant Mark Garry, Pewaukee, for taking time away from their agencies to evaluate our police department and to report back to the WILEAG Board.

The Brown Deer Police Department regrets to inform you of the passing of Retired Police Officer Jill Zeise. Zeise served as an officer with Brown Deer from January 5th, 2003 to March 31st, 2020. During her 18 years with the department, she served as a Field Training Officer, Acting Shift Leader, School Resource Officer, Investigator, and Community Outreach Officer.

In 2015, Officer Zeise was diagnosed with breast cancer. On Sunday, May 9th, after battling the disease for years, Officer Zeise lost her courageous fight against breast cancer and passed peacefully surrounded by her family. Officer Zeise was a champion in the fight against breast cancer and publicly shared her personal battles and experience through social media and local media outlets.

The Brown Deer Police Department is mourning the loss of a friend, a colleague, and an inspiration to us all. Please keep Officer Zeise’s friends and family in your thoughts as they struggle through this difficult time.
