Pol Ad Paid For By Scott Jackson
Friends:
I want to take this opportunity to thank all the people who have supported me in my campaign for Terry County Judge. If you voted for me during the early voting process, I hope that my message of non-partisanship governance resonated, and you felt as I felt, that it is “people over politics” in Terry County and that divisive party politics that debilitates effective, sound decision making will be rejected. If you did not vote for me, then I failed to adequately make my case to you that my vision of prosperity and progress for Terry County through consistent, stable leadership was found lacking and you chose my opponent’s vision. If you are undecided going into the General Election, I want to make this last attempt to convince you that I am the man who is most qualified and most able to lead Terry County through challenging times ahead.
Forty years of public service, twenty-two years heading a county department through both good and lean years. Managing a budget that oftentimes needed improvisation to provide optimal services at reduced budgetary levels. Providing cost effective and innovative services that utilized inter-agency memorandums of understanding that promoted cooperation with other state and local agencies to provide mental health services, family crisis management, family counseling, and educational and vocational opportunities for youth, with incarceration being the last resort, but an option, rehabilitation an option, but ultimately the choice of the individual. During this time of service with Terry County, I had the privilege of serving on many boards, many of them in positions of leadership. President of the Terry County Child Welfare Board ( 1 term), President of the Regional Child Welfare Board ( 1 term), Board member of Family Coaching Inc. ( 2 terms), State Bar Grievance Committee (3 terms), Terry County Emergency Shelter Board (6 years), West Texas Chief Probation Officers Associations President ( 1 term), Our Promise Youth Academy( formerly the Boys and Girls Club) Board ( 4 terms, currently serving as Board President). Eighteen years of service with the City of Brownfield as Parks & Recreation Director, improving the quality of life for city and county residents through park improvements as dictated by the Master Comprehensive Plan of 2006. Achievements during this time: construction of the Brownfield Family Aquatic Center, construction of playgrounds in Coleman Park, Jake Geron Park, Cactus Park, Gilham Park and Fitness Park. Renovations at Kiddie Park and the addition of a Skate Park, renovations at the Party House and the Amphitheater, additions of new bathrooms at Kiddie, Gilham and Coleman Parks, along with the addition of new trees and underground sprinkler systems at Gilham, Fitness and Coleman Parks. Additionally, construction of the Brownfield Sports Complex, Disc Golf Course, and the recently constructed all- purpose field located in Coleman Park, and the construction of the basketball court and sand volleyball courts.
These achievements are not mine alone. They were the result of cooperation, compromise and commitment of several departments, department heads, volunteers, several city councils, school boards, city councilmen and women, commissioner’s courts and county judges over an eighteen year period. Great things can be done with a plan by a man of vision, resolve, and determination. I tell you I am that man of vision, who possesses the resolve and determination, that if given the chance by you as a voter, I pledge to you that the best is yet to come for Terry County!
I humbly ask for your vote on November 8th.
God Bless Terry County, God Bless the United States of America.
