Please join us on June 17, 2026, for our Household Hazardous Waste Collection Event!

This is your chance to safely dispose of those household items that don't belong in the regular trash. The drop-off point will be located at the Blackfeet Solid Waste Transfer Station Facility from 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM.

We are putting together a detailed list of what exactly we can and cannot accept. This list will be posted in the coming weeks, so keep an eye on our page!

A quick rule of thumb: if you have empty containers, these can go into your regular trash. However, if you find chemical-containing products that are still partially full or expired, such as old paint, stains, garden chemicals, or household/car cleaners, please save those for our event! We are bringing in a professional team to handle and dispose of these items safely.

For questions or more information, please refer to the contact details on the attached flyer.
Thank you for helping us keep our community clean and safe!

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us for our annual Earth Day celebration at the Stick Game Arbor! This event was a massive team effort, and we are very grateful to everyone who was a part in making it a success. It was an inspiring day filled with community, learning, and action. 🌎🌱

This event truly relies on the people behind the scenes, and we couldn’t have done it without the tireless work of our BEO staff and volunteers. From greeting guests to preparing lunch and managing the tree giveaway, your dedication kept everything running smoothly.

A special shoutout to the 18 organizations from across Montana who joined us to share vital knowledge on protecting our land and water. Your presence is what makes this event so impactful every year!

We also want to extend our sincere gratitude to the Blackfeet Tribal Business Council for their ongoing support, as well as all the local businesses and individuals who donated.
To our community: Thank you for showing up for the land and for each other.

We can’t wait to see those new trees and plants taking root across the Blackfeet Nation! See you next year! 🌳

Free School Project Update:

Field work for the Free School project officially concluded on November 6, 2025. All hazardous building materials have been safely removed from the site.

As we move forward, progress will continue post-demolition while we await final inspections and the completion of a formal cleanup report.

for everyone’s safety. We ask that the public please refrain from entering the site as crews work to secure the remaining compromised concrete foundation with fencing.

Thank you for your continued cooperation as we work to safely complete this phase of the project.

Free School Update:

Progress continues on the demolition project. On Thursday and Friday of last week, 10 loads of debris were hauled to the landfill in Conrad. The landfill was closed over the weekend, but a Kinto crew member remained onsite to monitor and wet the debris.

This week's work will focus on transporting additional loads to the landfill. While high winds have slightly slowed progress, we anticipate that all the debris will be removed by the end of the week.

We're also happy to report that all air monitoring samples that could be analyzed came back at safe levels for exposure. Monitoring will continue today as work progresses.

Thank you for your continued patience and understanding. If you have questions, feel free to reach out to our Brownfield team.

On behalf of the Blackfeet Environmental Office, we would like to extend our sincere gratitude to everyone who contributed to the successful completion of yesterday’s demolition project, your collaboration, professionalism, and commitment ensured the work was completed efficiently and safely.

We would like to express our special thanks to the Transportation Department for generously loaning their equipment, which was essential to the progress and efficiency of the demolition. Our appreciation also goes to the Tribal Maintenance and Tribal Security Department for their effective traffic control, and coordination that allowed our crew to operate without interruption. We are equally grateful to Glacier Electric Company for ensuring a safe work environment and taking the necessary precautions to protect both personnel and infrastructure.

A heartfelt thank you goes to Kinto Excavation, our local crew, for their exceptional problem-solving, and quick action in overcoming unforeseen challenges while maintaining the highest safety standards. We also wish to acknowledge the Blackfeet Tribal Business Council for staying informed throughout the process and making decisions that reflected the best interest of our members and community.

This project’s smooth ex*****on was a direct result of your cooperation and dedication. Without each of you stepping up and lending your expertise. This effort would not have gone as seamlessly as it did.

Thank you again for your hard work, teamwork and commitment to the success of this project.
