Yesterday, the Yuba County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue K9 Unit conducted SAR K9 water recovery testing and recertifications at the Frenchtown Inn in Oregon House. These certifications evaluate the ability of SAR K9 teams to assist in water recovery operations involving drowning victims.

We would like to extend a sincere thank you to the Frenchtown Inn property owner for generously allowing us to use their beautiful venue for this important training and testing opportunity. Community support and partnerships like this are invaluable and play a vital role in helping our teams maintain readiness and operational capability.

Congratulations to all of our handlers and K9s who successfully tested and recertified. The level of dedication, training, and teamwork required to maintain these specialized certifications is tremendous, and we are proud of the commitment our volunteers continue to demonstrate in service to our community. Great work by everyone involved!

As we head into the busy Memorial Day holiday weekend, we also want to remind everyone to practice water safety. Always wear a properly fitted life jacket while on the water, closely supervise children near water, and never operate a boat under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Taking simple precautions can help prevent tragedies and save lives. Stay safe and enjoy the holiday weekend responsibly.

Our OHV team completed a 28-mile training today. We navigated through some unexpected obstacles and splashed through some puddles. We hope you never need us to rescue you, but we're training and ready for when a call comes in. Be safe out there.

Huge congratulations to two of our own—Monica and Carol—for successfully passing their IPWDA Water Certification! 🌊🐾

This achievement reflects far more than just a certification. It represents countless hours of training, strong partnerships with their K9s, and a deep commitment to showing up when it matters most.

Monica and Carol have dedicated themselves to using their K9 partners in drowning-related searches—not only in our community, but throughout the state. These are some of the most challenging and emotionally difficult missions we respond to, and their willingness to train, deploy, and serve in this capacity speaks volumes about their character and professionalism.

Their work brings critical resources to families and agencies during some of the hardest moments imaginable, and their dedication does not go unnoticed.

We are incredibly proud to have both of them on our team. Well done! 💪🐕
