Today, Commissioner Hill along with Mr. Larry Sharp, broke ground for the new Sharp Family Storm Shelter.
This new storm shelter will be located at 2969 Dug Hill Road. The approximate 1.5 acre site was generously donated to Madison County by Mr. Larry Sharp and will be named after his family.
Commissioner Hill had been searching for property in this area that would serve the growing community and a conversation with Mr. Sharp one afternoon was an answered prayer.
Commissioner Craig Hill’s District 3 office is providing funding for the 10-foot wide by 48-foot long community storm shelter that will go on this land. The District 3 crews has already cleared the land and prepped the side. The storm shelter is estimated to be completed within 120 days from contractors beginning construction.
Special thanks to Central Fire/Ems, who will be over opening this storm shelter during severe weather.

Commissioner Hill & staff have worked with Central School to help improve the car rider line for the upcoming school year. There are now two marked lanes with a right turn and left turn arrow at the exit for the car rider line to help with the flow of school traffic.
We are still proud of the car rider line extension our D3 crew completed a couple years ago to help get cars off Moontown Rd and we are always glad when we can help Central. We wish everyone a wonderful first day of school tomorrow!

As we wrap up the Church Ave/New Hope Elementary car rider line widening project, to allow school to start with a new turn lane, we would like to express our gratitude to the City of New Hope for their constant support throughout this project. Our contractor is aware of our intent to get a new wearing surface at this intersection. They will pave during fall break. This will give the new construction time to settle and the paving to not interfere with school traffic.

District 3 crews recently had to perform an emergency repair on Brock Road due to a compromised and dangerous pipe that ran under the road. The old pipe was removed and a new drain structure was put in place. We worked to get the road back open as soon as possible with a temporary gravel surface in place. Following common construction practices on road repairs, the gravel needs time to appropriately settle so when the final wearing surface is installed there won’t be a “bump in the road”. We understand that many of you drive this route daily, as does a majority of our staff, and we are all frustrated with the current condition. A final wearing surface will be applied soon. Thank you for your patience as we work to insure this job is done properly.
