The Linn County Fire Defense Boardโrepresenting the fire agencies of Albany Fire Department, Lebanon Fire District, Sweet Home Fire District, Scio Fire District, Tangent Fire District, Brownsville Rural Fire District, Halsey Fire, Oregon Department of Forestry and Harrisburg Fire & Rescueโis pleased to announce the official opening of burn season on Saturday, October 11th. We thank the public for their patience during the delay, which was necessary to ensure safety amid recent weather conditions.
As burn season begins, itโs important for residents to stay informed and follow regulations to maintain a safe and responsible burning environment.

Residents are reminded to adhere to Division 264 Rules for Open Burning. Please ensure the following requirements are met:
โข Before burning, call the ๐๐ข๐ง๐ง ๐๐จ๐ฎ๐ง๐ญ๐ฒ ๐๐ฎ๐ซ๐ง ๐๐ข๐ง๐ ๐๐ญ ๐๐๐-๐๐๐-๐๐๐๐ or review the ๐๐ข๐ฅ๐ฅ๐๐ฆ๐๐ญ๐ญ๐ ๐๐๐ฅ๐ฅ๐๐ฒ ๐๐ฉ๐๐ง ๐๐ฎ๐ซ๐ง๐ข๐ง๐ ๐๐ง๐ง๐จ๐ฎ๐ง๐๐๐ฆ๐๐ง๐ญ (๐ก๐ญ๐ญ๐ฉ๐ฌ://๐ฌ๐ฆ๐ค๐ฆ๐ ๐ญ.๐๐จ๐ฆ/๐๐ฎ๐ซ๐ง.๐ฉ๐ก๐ฉ) to confirm daily restrictions.

To burn efficiently and minimize smoke pollution, follow these key tips:
โข Burn dry firewood and yard debris; avoid wet materials.
โข Stack firewood and yard waste loosely to ensure good air circulation.
โข Re-stack or feed the fire regularly to prevent smoldering.
โข Avoid using lighter fluid or other accelerants.
โข Maintain safe distances from buildings, as required by city or county codes.
Please stay updated on any burn bans that may be enforced by your local fire agency.

It is important to remember that burning certain materials in Oregon is illegal. The following items cannot be burned:
โข Asbestos
โข Automotive parts
โข Plastics and rubber products
โข Waste oil and petroleum products
โข Wet garbage and food waste
โข Materials that create dense smoke or noxious odors

We encourage residents to consider alternatives to open burning to help keep our air clean:
โข Recycle paper and other products when possible.
โข Compost yard debris and kitchen scraps.
โข Dispose of waste at an approved landfill or hazardous waste collection site.
