HACB Family Self-Sufficiency Program Participant Spotlight
When Mr. Juan Baldonado joined HACB’s Family Self-Sufficiency Program in October 2023, he was already working hard to build a better future for his family. While completing his barber license certification, he and his wife, a cosmetologist, launched a business using their skills and continued working to make it successful.
Mr. Baldonado remained committed to expanding his education and career opportunities. On November 19, 2024, he proudly earned his GED. He then obtained certifications in Phlebotomy and Emergency Medical Technician, with financial assistance from the FSS Program. These accomplishments have given him several career options to help provide greater stability for his family.
Throughout his time in the program, Mr. Baldonado also improved his credit score and strengthened his credit history. Today, he is graduating from the FSS Program as a self-employed business owner with a GED and certifications in barbering, phlebotomy, and emergency medical services.
Most importantly, Mr. Baldonado and his family are transitioning out of housing assistance and taking the exciting next step toward homeownership through owner financing.
Although he did not receive an escrow disbursement upon graduation, his greatest achievement is the lasting self-sufficiency he created through education, perseverance, improved credit, and homeownership.
We are incredibly proud of Mr. Baldonado’s accomplishments and the strong motivation he demonstrated throughout his journey. His dedication to improving himself and creating a better future for his family is truly inspiring.
Please join us in congratulating Mr. Baldonado on his graduation from the FSS Program and this wonderful new chapter!
