SHOTS FIRED INVESTIGATION

Brownsville, TX- The Brownsville Police Department is investigating a shots fired incident that occurred during the early morning hours of September 5, 2026, in front of a sitting Brownsville City Commissioner’s residence.

The investigation remains active, and investigators are working to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident and identify suspects in the case.

The Brownsville Police Department remains committed to thoroughly investigating matters of this nature and following the facts and evidence. When an investigation establishes that a criminal offense has occurred, the Department will pursue the appropriate criminal charges against those responsible.

Our K-9s do SO much for our community. From tracking and searching to detecting and assisting our officers in keeping Brownsville safe. They’re hardworking, loyal, and always ready to do their job!

On that note, we would like to give an extra special WELCOME TO MAX!🐶 Max is our newest K-9 and officially makes him the 5th member of the BPD K-9 Unit!

The Brownsville Police Department is excited to invite YOU to participate in our 8-Week Citizens Police Academy!

This course is designed to give members of our community an inside look at our department by learning about our operations and gaining a better understanding of the work our officers do every day to keep Brownsville safe.

🗓️ First Day starts October 1, 2026
📍 Every Thursday for 8 weeks
⏰ 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM

The Brownsville Police Department has once again seen an increase in thefts involving newer-model Jeep Gladiators and Jeep Wranglers.

We want to remind our community to take extra precautions to protect your vehicles. Consider using visible anti-theft devices, such as steering wheel clubs or installing kill switches.

Please remain vigilant and take proactive steps to help prevent becoming a victim of vehicle theft. Don’t make it easy for thieves! Protect your ride!

The Brownsville Police Department is asking for assistance to help locate Mario Alberto Soto (76). According to family, Mr. Soto is deaf mute and has dementia.

Height: 5’7”
Weight: 150 lbs

Mr. Soto was last seen at his residence located at the 1800 block of Palm Blvd possibly wearing a gray shirt, blue jeans, and a red hat.

If anyone has any information on Mr. Soto’s whereabouts, please contact the Brownsville Police Department.
