Day four of the Summer Youth Police Academy nears its conclusion, our students continue to stay motivated, engaged, and eager to learn!

Thank you to Interm Superintendent Dr. Alda T. Benavides for making an appearance this morning and sharing words of encouragement to the class.

Our department's SRT Officers provided an informative presentation on the specialized equipment used during critical incidents. Students had the opportunity to see the equipment up close and gain a better understanding of its purpose and function.

Our K-9 Officers also made a special appearance, giving students the chance to interact with our K-9 teams while learning about the importance of maintaining drug-free schools.

In addition, Sgt. Charles and Officer Uresti educated students on Drone Operations, explaining how drones assist law enforcement. Students were excited to observe a live drone demonstration and see firsthand how the technology operates.

We are proud of the enthusiasm, participation, and dedication our students have shown throughout the academy and look forward to finishing the week strong!๐Ÿš”๐Ÿ‘ฎโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿ‘ฎโ€โ™€๏ธโœˆ๏ธ๐Ÿ•

Today, the Brownsville ISD Police & Security Services Department proudly kicked off the Summer Youth Police Academy! Chief Anna Gaucin officially welcomed the students and encouraged them to make the most of this exciting week of learning, leadership, and teamwork.

Students participated in team-building activities designed to help them meet new friends from different schools, build confidence, and ease first-day jitters. Sgt. Padron then led an educational presentation on juvenile law, helping students better understand how laws can impact them both now and in the future.

To conclude the day, students took part in a scripted mock trial, providing them with a hands-on learning experience about the court system and the roles of those involved in the judicial process.

We look forward to an amazing week of learning, growth, and positive interactions with our future leaders! ๐Ÿ‘ฎโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿ‘ฎโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿ“šโš–๏ธ
