I spent 10 years being someone's dog.
I was there for the good days, the bad days, the moves, the milestones, and all the moments in between. I loved with my whole heart because that's what dogs do.
One day, I got lost. But I wasn't worried. I had a microchip, and I knew my family would come for me.
Then I waited.
And waited.
When the shelter called my owner, I thought my ride home was coming. Instead, they said they didn't want me anymore.
I'm not sure what changed. I don't feel any different. My heart still gets happy when someone says I'm a good boy. I still wag my tail when I see a friendly face. I still have so much love left to give.
Maybe it's because I'm 10 years old now. My muzzle is a little gray, and I don't move as fast as I used to. But I promise I still have plenty of life left in me.
What I dream about isn't much. A soft couch. A cozy bed. A family to sit beside while they watch TV. Someone to tell me I'm home again.
I've spent my whole life loving people. I just hope there's someone out there willing to love an old dog back.
