Here's some more awesome news, Brownwood! James Avery has their soft opening beginning today with a brand new, fully stocked store at the Shops on Commerce!

To kick off their soft opening, James Avery is offering a Gift Card Giveaway that will run through their Grand Opening on September 12th. The Grand Opening will also offer goodie bags for new customers on the 12th.

Stop by and check out the newest addition to Brownwood’s growing retail lineup.

Brownwood received statewide recognition today!

Visit Brownwood earned two Texas Destination Excellence Awards at the Destinations Texas Annual Conference, recognizing the promotion of the 2026 NJCAA Division I Women’s Basketball Championship and the 2025 Feels Like Home Festival.

These recognitions highlight the continued work to bring visitors to Brownwood, support our local economy and showcase our community as a destination for sports, events and tourism.

The Brownwood Police Department is accepting applications for its upcoming Police Officer Entrance Exam.

BPD invests in its officers through extensive training, competitive compensation, career development, and opportunities to serve in specialized assignments. The Department has also maintained accreditation through the Texas Police Chiefs Association Recognition Program since 2013.

With sign-on bonuses up to $5,000, lateral entry pay, certification pay, education pay, and longevity pay, BPD offers a strong opportunity to build a career in law enforcement.

KTAB recently stopped by Riverside Park for a special edition of their Big Country Trails & ‘Tails’ segment, highlighting the improvements underway as part of the park’s ongoing transformation.

Mayor Stephen Haynes shared more about the new playground, expanded walking trails, ADA accessible features, gathering spaces and other Phase II improvements designed to make Riverside Park even more enjoyable for residents and visitors.

“We want our public facilities to be beneficial for our families. We want this to be a fun and pleasant place for our families to live. And so, renovating our parks is one of the best ways we can do that,” Haynes shared.
