Bruce's Place is a free youth center for ages K-12. Emphasis is on healthy, unplugged activities (emphasis on active). Initial offerings will be foosball, air hockey, billiards, table tennis, and mini basketball. We'll offer (primarily healthy) snacks and refreshments at no charge. There will also be a reading/study/quiet room. We'll also have some board games (like Sorry!, Parcheesi, Chess, Check
ers, etc., cribbage, playing cards, drawing/coloring supplies, and so forth. New things will be added as we learn kids' interest. Eventually, we hope to host events like Risk or Ping-Pong tournaments, live small-venue concerts, small-scale amateur theater, possibly community family movie nights. We are always seeking adult volunteers to help staff the center. We look for those who can genuinely and sincerely model and present a faith in Christ and an exemplary godly lifestyle. We intend to embody the exhortation to "preach the Gospel at all times; when necessary, use words." As our volunteer staff grows, we hope to expand to at least 5 afternoons a week, and perhaps some weekend days. Our intent, for as long as we can with the resources God has provided and continues to provide for us, is to try to present Christ's love and compassion, charging for nothing and simply giving the kids a warm-in-winter, cool-in-summer, safe place to enjoy wholesome activities and face-to-face social interaction.
