WHERE ARE THEY NOW?: Sheriff's Deputy Zac Neal always knew he wanted a career in law enforcement. After graduating from Bruce High School in 2015, he earned his Criminal Justice Studies associate's degree in 2017 from WITC in Rice Lake. Afterward, he completed WITC's Law Enforcement Academy. Deputy Neal immediately went to work for the Village Cameron's and the City of Chetek's Police Departments. In 2018, he joined the Rusk County Sheriff's Department. Currently, he serves as a patrol deputy and evidence custodian. He enjoys serving the community and county that he's always lived in. He also remains on the rosters for occasional duties in Cameron and Chetek. When he's not working, Deputy Neal plays drums in a rock band, attending music festivals, and spending time with his two-year-old daughter. Congratulations on your accomplishments, Zac.

PRETTY PRESS: When Mr. Thome bought this antique fruit press up near Exeland, it was a genuine "barn find." He replaced the hopper's wooden staves while Mr. Booth sandblasted and painted the cast iron. Producing seven gallons of apple juice this fall, it looks and works like new. Nice job, gentlemen.

MORE RETRO RAIDER: In response to a post from August 23, Bruce graduate Jennifer Ellison Herrera (Class of '83) sent in these photos of her Raider memorabilia. She even has her father's yearbook from 1956! Thank you for sending the pictures, Jennifer.

AIRBORNE RAIDER: Sophomore Carter Golat started competitive mountain biking three years ago as part of a Bruce riding group led by Jenna Behrends. Since then, it's been all "downhill." In 2019, he joined the Rice Lake High School riding team. This weekend, Carter placed 25th out of 91 riders in a race near Milwaukee. In this video, you'll see him ramp over a dirt road then go airborne over a "booter." You make it look easy, Carter.

NEW COACH FEATURE: Kim Weber knows her way around the hardwoods. For 27 years, she's been a basketball coach at all levels. For the past 12 years, Coach Weber has been at Cameron - including six years as varsity head coach. She is a member of the WIAA Coaches Advisory Committee, and she's currently on the Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association's D4 executive board. (She hopes to get on for Division 5). Coach Weber is passionate about basketball and the girls she works with. She looks forward to building that passion within our girls and our community. She's excited to be a Red Raider. Welcome to Bruce, Coach Weber.

WHERE ARE THEY NOW?: When Ben Adams graduated high school in 2015, he wanted a job where he could build and repair things while staying physically active. This led him to complete the Air Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration Technician program at Chippewa Valley Technical College in Eau Claire. After graduating from CVTC, Mr. Adams was immediately hired by Northwest Refrigeration of Bruce. He spends much of his time traveling all over the state installing and servicing commercial refrigeration units in stores such as Walmart and Aldi. On weekends, he's occasionally available to service both commercial and residential needs. Over the past year, the former state champion wrestler spent his free time building his new home north of Bruce. He's an avid fisherman, hunter, and outdoorsman who rarely sits still. Congratulations on your busy career, Ben.

NEW TEACHER FEATURE: Ronda Acuna is a familiar face to our school. She's been a substitute teacher in this area for six years, and now she's our new 3rd-5th grade special education teacher. Mrs. Acuna graduated with a master's degree in education from North Park University in Chicago. She's been an educator in various capacities for more than 20 years. Before moving here in 2014, she was actively involved in Chicago's homeschooling community. When she's not teaching, Mrs. Acuna keeps busy managing her family's rental properties. She enjoys taking long walks, gardening, kayaking, Bible studies, and hanging out with family and friends. Welcome to the Bruce staff, Ronda.
