Ann Tucker, Councilwoman of the Muscogee Nation of Florida Tribal Council, wrote and received a 3 year Social and Economic Development grant from the Administration for Native Americans for a project to support the financial future of the tribe and the community at large. The grant enables the Tribe to build an agri-tourism industry focusing on sustainable farming, aquafarming and community educat

ion through a small business that is called “Muscogee Farms." Tucker believes the project will create an economic arm for the people of the Muscogee Nation of Florida and help alleviate the food desert* that is the greater Bruce and tri-county area. Beyond being an economic pursuit it will also be an educational pursuit, with classes to teach local children and families that the past and present can fuse seamlessly as one: modern farming techniques alongside traditional arts, crafts, and indigenous knowledge.
