Myrl "Lynn" Bryant

Myrl Lynn Bryant, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away at her home in Carthage, MS, on August 30, 2026, at the age of 75. Born on June 3, 1951, in Vardaman, MS, Lynn will be remembered for her warmth, creativity, and unwavering spirit. She graduated from Vardaman High School in 1969 and later obtained an Associate's Degree before embarking on her career.

Lynn dedicated many years of her life to Bell South Telephone Co. as a collections agent before retiring. She also retired from the Mississippi Military Department, where she served as an administrative assistant. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Brandon, MS, where she found joy and community. Lynn's love for reading, traveling, and engaging in arts and crafts enriched the lives of those around her, as did her vibrant personality and infectious laughter.

On December 26, 1970, Lynn married the love of her life, Michael Don Bryant. Together, they raised three sons: Jerry Lee (Clara) Bryant of Big Springs, TX, John Paul (Stephanie) Bryant of Carthage, MS, and Michael Edward (Rachel) Bryant of Elgin, OK. Lynn's legacy continues through her grandchildren, Damion (Katy) Bryant, Sam Bryant, Maggie (Nick) Wright, David (Monte) Bryant, Taylor Bryant, Katelynn Bryant, Kara Leigh Bryant, and Leighanna Bryant, as well as her five cherished great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Jo Ann Dye of Calhoun City, MS, and her brother, Leroy Delbert (Vonne) Edwards of Carrollton, MS.

A visitation will take place from 10:30 AM until 11:00 AM at the Parker Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Vardaman, MS. Following the visitation, a memorial service in honor of Lynn Bryant will be held on Friday, September 4, 2026, at 11:00 AM with her sons, Bro. Michael Bryant and Bro. John Paul Bryant officiating.

As we remember Lynn's life, we find comfort in the words of Proverbs 3:5 (KJV): "Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding."

Lynn was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Vola Edwards and one sister, Janice Robles.

Vickie Lane Hayles

Vickie Lane Hayles, a beloved mother, grandmother, and cherished friend, passed away at her home on August 31, 2026, at the age of 71. Vickie was born on October 29, 1954, in Bruce, Mississippi, and spent her life in Houlka, Mississippi.

She is survived by her loving daughter, Carla McKinney of Houlka, MS, and one grandchild, Johnathan Wayne (MeMe) McKinney. Vickie will be remembered as a terrific mother and grandmother by her daughter and grandchild.

Vickie spent many years working as a nurse's assistant, at Walmart, and was self-employed.

Beyond her professional endeavors, Vickie loved reading and was a true movie buff. One of her favorite things to do was mowing her yard. Vickie attended church at Sarepta Baptist Church, where she found fellowship and purpose.

A visitation will be held at Parker Memorial Funeral Home on Thursday, September 3, 2026, from 11:00 AM - 2:00 PM. Funeral services for Vickie will begin at 2:00 PM. Following the service, Vickie will be laid to rest at Memory Memorial Garden in Bruce, MS.

Vickie was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Hayles; father, Albert Martin; mother, Eva Martin; and sister, Norma Cain.

Barbara Parker

Barbara Ann Puckett Parker passed away peacefully on August 30th, 2026 at Baptist Nursing Home in Calhoun City. One of eight children, she was born on May 6th, 1939 to her parents, Herbert and Lee Puckett in Monette, Arkansas. She graduated from Caraway High School in 1957. Shortly after graduation, she moved to Illinois to find employment. She met the love of her life, Wayne Parker, in 1959 and they were married on June 25th, 1960. They celebrated their 65th Anniversary just days before Wayne's death in 2025. On January 14th, 1967, they welcomed their only child, Kimberly Ann. Barbara was a homemaker and very involved at Lynwood Baptist Church in Oswego, IL for nearly 40 years. She taught Sunday School for many years and sang in the choir. She was a woman of deep faith in Jesus Christ. Her health problems often kept her isolated but she used that time to reach out to others. She was faithful to write letters and send cards of encouragement or get well wishes to friends and family members. She was a prayer warrior and spent hours each week praying for her family, friends, and those who were ill. If she said she was praying for you, she meant it.

She and Wayne moved to Calhoun City, MS in 2002 after his retirement. In 2022, Wayne went to live in the nursing home after a bad fall and she joined him there in 2023. She loved the ladies who took care of her and prayed for the staff there every day. She was tiny but mighty and she became close to her favorite aides, Holly Ulland and Rachel Harvey and her favorite nurses, Cynthia Buchanan, Veronica Morgan, Jennifer Ezelle and Rochelle Hall. She is survived by her daughter, Kim Parker Gregory of Bruce; her best friend and sister, Linda Puckett Cobb, Altoona, IA and her special friend, Charlotte McCrory. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Wayne Parker; her parents, Herbert and Lee Puckett; her brothers, Melvin Puckett, Robert Puckett, Gene Puckett; her sisters Gladys Cope, Jane Reed, and LuVerle Bass.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 2nd from 1pm to 2pm at New Liberty Baptist Church in Vardaman, MS with the service following at 2pm, also at New Liberty Baptist Church. Dr. Chad Logan from First Baptist Church, Calhoun City will bring the message and Dr. Cory Bailey and Melissa Harrelson will provide the music. Pallbearers are Dr. Jeff Parker, Tuscaloosa AL; Ronald Parker, Belmont, MS; Dr. Bruce Longest, Bruce MS; Dr. Cory Bailey, Starkville MS; Dr. Chad Logan, Calhoun City MS; Chris Melton, Bruce MS.

Lola Jane Lambert

Lola Jane Lambert, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 29, 2026, at the age of 95, in Senatobia, Mississippi. Born on January 17, 1931, in Bruce, Mississippi, she was a proud graduate of Bruce High School.

Lola Jane was known for her unwavering kindness, deep commitment to her family, and her strong faith as a long-time member of Coldwater Baptist Church. She had a treasured church family and a Sunday School class that brought her immense joy and fellowship. Lola Jane's devotion as a homemaker was reflected in every meal she cooked and every gathering she hosted, where the warmth of her love was always felt.

She is survived by her two sons, Rick (Malisa) Lambert of Hernando, MS , Joe (Eileen) Lambert, both of Hernando, MS, along with her cherished grandchildren: Elissa (Scott) Trapolino, Andrew (Lacey) Lambert, Matthew Lambert, and Madeline (Nathan) Vanderburg and five great-grandchildren. Each of them will carry forward her legacy of love, compassion, and resilience.

Lola was preceded in death by her husband;Leon "Lee" Lambert, father, John Henry Brasher, mother, Vivian Leanna Crocker Brasher, sister, Kathryn Collins, and a brother, Max O. Brasher.

A funeral service honoring Lola Jane's life will be held at Parker Memorial Funeral Home Chapel of Bruce, MS on Tuesday September 1, 2026 at 2:00 P.M. with Bro. Paul Smith officiating. Visitation will be held at Parker Memorial Funeral Home from 1:00 P.M. until 2;00 P.M. She will be laid to rest in Bruce Cemetery with Steve Chaney, Andrew Lambert, Jo Lambert, Matthew Lambert, Josiah Prewitt, Scott Trapolino, and Nathan Vanderburg serving as pallbearers.

Ann Louise McCord

Ann Thomas McCord, 79, of Hernando, Mississippi, passed away peacefully on August 27, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.

Ann was born on September 22, 1946, in Horn Lake, Mississippi, to Louise Sanders Thomas and Frank Jean Thomas.

She married the love of her life, the Reverend Billy Q. McCord. Together, they built a family through love, faith, and adoption, welcoming five children into their home. They later opened their home and hearts once again to raise their granddaughter. NannyAnn's family was never defined simply by blood it was defined by the love she so freely gave.

She was the kind of light that burned so brightly that it was nearly impossible to remain sad around her. Even during life's hardest moments, NannyAnn had a way of finding something to smile about and a reason to keep going. Her faith, strength, humor, and painfully positive outlook touched everyone fortunate enough to know her.

Ann was a faithful member of Love United Methodist Church, where she shared her love of music by playing the piano. Her faith was at the center of her life and could be seen in the way she loved, encouraged, and cared for others.

In recent years, Ann made her home at Wesley Meadows Retirement Community in Hernando. There, her joyful personality continued to shine, and she became affectionately known as "the Hat Lady." During the Christmas season, she proudly became "Mrs. Claus," bringing laughter, warmth, and holiday cheer to everyone around her. She had a gift for making any place feel brighter simply by being there.

Ann was preceded in death by her beloved husband, the Reverend Billy Q. McCord; her parents, Louise Sanders Thomas and Frank Jean Thomas; and her brother-in-law, Hiram Agner.

She is survived by her sister, Becky Agner; five children, including her daughter, Cindy Donaldson, four grandchildren, including the granddaughter she raised, Rebecca McCord, and three great-grandsons. She also leaves behind many extended family members, church family, neighbors, caregivers, and friends who will forever carry her light with them.

A graveside service for all family and friends will be held at Memory Memorial Garden in Bruce, Mississippi at 3:00 p.m.

A memorial service celebrating Ann's life will also be held at Wesley Meadows Retirement Community at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, August 31. Everyone is invited to attend and celebrate the joy and light Ann brought into the lives of so many.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Wesley Meadows Retirement Community in support of its continued work toward building a facility dedicated to caring for individuals with Alzheimer's disease and dementia.

Howard Ray Hollingsworth

Howard Ray Hollingsworth, age 74, of Big Creek, Mississippi, left this world on August 10, 2026, at the Regional One Medical Center in Memphis, TN. Born on January 24, 1952, Ray was a beloved member of his community and a member of the Big Creek Baptist Church.

Ray was a proud graduate of the Calhoun City High School Class of 1970, where he was known as a member of the Glee Club. Later became a dormitory monitor for residential students at Northwest Community College. Ray's career in food service as a restaurant manager, supervisor, and cook was marked by his passion for preparing meals that brought joy to others. He especially relished the opportunity to cook for friends, those who were unable to make meals for themselves, or just a kind deed to bring joy to someone else's life.

In addition to his culinary skills, Ray was an exceptional cake decorator, creating beautiful works of art for birthdays, anniversaries, and weddings. A true people person, Ray loved to engage in conversation and was always eager to reconnect with old friends, whether at class reunions, church homecomings, or family gatherings.

Ray's kind-hearted nature shone through in his desire to check in on others, even during his own struggles with sickness. His ability to empathize with others and his willingness to lend a listening ear showcased the depth of his character.

Ray is survived by his sister, Charlotte Ann Hatfield and nephew, Michael Wright both of Midlothian, VA, and a host of friends and loved ones who will miss his infectious smile and warm spirit.

A private memorial service will be held to honor Ray's life and legacy at a later date.

He will be remembered not only for his contributions to the community but also for the uplifting way he touched the lives of those around him. Ray Hollingsworth's kindness and love will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

Ray was preceded in death by his parents; Thomas Howard Hollingsworth and Jimmie Dee Moore Hollingsworth.

Sonia Denise Coleman

Sonia Denise Coleman, a beloved daughter and sister, passed away at her home in Water Valley, MS, on August 10, 2026, at the age of 64. Born on September 6, 1961, in Sumter, South Carolina, Sonia's journey through life was marked by her unwavering kindness and deep love for animals.

A graduate of Bruce High School, Class of 1980, Sonia pursued her passion for animal care and became a licensed veterinary technician. Her tireless dedication to her work showcased her hardworking nature and her genuine love for the animals she cared for. Sonia was known for her spunky personality and loyalty to her friends and family.

A member of Sherman Baptist Church, Sonia found joy in her faith community. Her love for animals extended to her own cherished pets, as she often spoke of the companionship and joy they brought into her life.

Sonia is survived by her father, James Coleman of Bruce; sisters Annette C. (James R.) Haire of Pittsboro; and Camille (Mark) Gober of Bruce; along with a host of nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews. Her legacy of love and compassion will remain in the hearts of all who knew her.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, at 2:00 PM at the Parker Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Bruce, Mississippi with Bro. Johnny Holderman and Bro. Edward Burrill officiating. Prior to the service, visitation will take place at the funeral home from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Following the services Sonia will be laid to rest at Gaston Springs Cemetery in Pittsboro, MS. Serving as pallbearers are Mark Gober, Sean Gober, Benji Haire, Richie Logan, Clint Melton, and Christopher Walls. Keith Kellum will be an honorary pallbearer.

Brandi Lane McKinley, born on August 9, 1973, in Portsmouth, Ohio, passed away peacefully on August 3, 2026, at her home in Bruce, Mississippi at the age of 52. She was a beloved wife, mother, sister, and grandmother whose vibrant spirit touched the lives of all who knew her.

Brandi is survived by her devoted husband, James McKinley; her loving mother, Sherry (Brady) Brewer; and her cherished children: Niketa Jines, Brett Grady Warren, Sean "Max" Gee, Matthew Gee, Jared McKinley, and Lauren McKinley. She is also lovingly remembered by her sisters, Beth McAdams and Krista Rae Marcum, her brothers, Jeremy McAdams and Antonio McAdams, stepmother, Anita McAdams, along with her grandchildren: Krissalynn, Klayton Jines, Hayden "Layne" Warren, and Khloee Jayde Warren "Buggie."

Brandi was a woman of many passions. She found joy in quilting, the rhythm of her sewing machine providing a comfort that echoed throughout her home. She was an avid reader and enjoyed immersing herself in audiobooks, allowing her imagination to soar to new heights. In her spare time, she delighted in raising chickens and peacocks, embracing the tranquility of nature and the companionship of her beloved cats.

Professionally, Brandi demonstrated her strength and versatility through her work in construction and carpentry, as well as her role as a cashier. Her dedication to her work was a testament to her hardworking spirit, and she was known for her kind demeanor and welcoming smile.

As Brandi embarks on her next journey, she leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and a deep appreciation for the simple joys in life. She will be profoundly missed but forever remembered in the hearts of those she touched.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 29th at Black Oak Fire Department in Vanceburg, Kentucky tentatively 1 p.m. EST.

Brenda Kaye Williams

Brenda Kaye Williams, born on June 25, 1943, passed away at NMMC in Tupelo, MS, on August 2, 2026, at the age of 83. A dedicated healthcare worker, Brenda devoted her life to caring for others, making a significant impact during her tenure at NMRC Bodock. She was a proud graduate of Houston High School, Class of 1961.

Brenda was a hard worker who found joy in cooking for her family and friends. She had a special love for animals and treasured her pets. She was a member of Victory Baptist Church, where she cherished her relationship with the Lord and the fellowship of her church family.

As a beloved mother and grandmother, Brenda leaves behind her son Mike (Ann) Williams of Houlka, son Chris (Judy) Williams of Houlka, daughter Karla (Sidney) Skyles of Bruce, and daughter Kelly (Dwayne) Ozbun of Houlka. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren: Adam (Taylor) Williams, Austin (Summer) Williams, Noel (Jock) Tunnell, McKenzie (Jarrett) Bennett, Cade (Dakota) Ozbun, and Noah Ozbun, as well as ten great-grandchildren who brought her great joy. Brenda also leaves behind her sister Phyllis Cain of Aberdeen.

Brenda's life will be celebrated with a funeral service on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, at 2:00 PM at the Parker Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Bruce, Mississippi. Prior to the service, a visitation will be held from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the same location. Following the service, Brenda will be laid to rest at Poplar Springs Cemetery in Vardaman, Mississippi. Serving as pallbearers are Jarrett Bennett, Cade Ozbun, Noah Ozbun, Jock Tunnell, Adam Williams, and Austin Williams.

Brenda was preceded in death by her husband Don Williams, father Wilson Marler, and mother Christine Humphries.

Jerry Wayne Hartley

Jerry Wayne Hartley, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away at his home in Vardaman, MS, on July 29, 2026, at the age of 87. Born on May 24, 1939, in Vardaman, MS, Jerry was a cherished member of his community and will be remembered for his unwavering faith and dedication to his family.

Jerry graduated from Vardaman High School in 1958 and enlisted in the United States Army, where he served as a Specialist (SP4) from May 20, 1958, until his honorable discharge on April 18, 1961. Following his military service, he spent many years working at Franklin Furniture Corporation, where he built lasting relationships with friends and colleagues.

A faithful member of Friendship Baptist Church in Houston, MS, Jerry served as a deacon and was known for his willingness to share his faith in his role as a lay minister. He had a profound love for fishing and enjoyed sharing stories and conversations with friends and family. A devoted supporter of Montana Missions, Jerry's life reflected his deep commitment to his country and his faith.

In 1960, Jerry married the love of his life, Doris Hartley, and together they nurtured a loving home filled with laughter, faith, and countless cherished memories. Along with his beloved wife, Doris Hartley; Jerry is survived by his daughter, Jerrie Leah Hartley of Vardaman; grandchildren Lee (Krystal) Parker of Vardaman, Amy White of Pittsboro, MS, and Myka Carothers of Calhoun City, MS; great-grandchildren Haley Reece, Garrett Parker, Ryan Land, Dana Jackson, Warren Jackson, Layla White, and Amir Hankins; his brother Bro. Fred (Glenda) Hartley; and his sister, Beth Bush both of Vardaman. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren affectionately called him "Tinedaddy," a testament to the loving legacy he leaves behind.

A public viewing will be held at Parker Memorial Funeral Home in Vardaman on Saturday, August 1, 2026, at 11:00 AM, followed by a funeral service in the chapel at 2:00 PM with Bro. Parish Hartley, Bro. Fred Hartley, and Bro. David Poyner officiating. Burial will take place afterward at Pinecrest Memorial Garden in Calhoun City, MS. Serving as pallbearers will be Zachery Card, Jimmy Faulkner, Gene Ruth I, Gene Ruth II, Bobby Thacker, David Sims, and Tyler Williams. Honorary pallbearers include Bobby Chrestman, Robert Huffman, Mark Huffman, Garrett Parker, Lee Parker, Rhett Ruth, Ryder Ruth, and Trae Ruth.

Jerry was preceded in death by his father, Samuel Harrison Hartley and mother, E. Lorene Robertson Hartley.
