Join us at the Topsham Public Library tomorrow 3/26 from 6-7:30 pm for an important conversation about Food, Farms, and Families. Two of our Steering Committee members, from Full Plates Full Potential and Mid Coast Hunger Prevention Program will be sharing their perspectives.

Early spring is one of the tougher times to eat locally in Maine, not because there isn’t local food available, but we are often getting tired of the storage vegetables available. In this workshop, Christine Burns Rudalevige and Harriet Van Vleck, who are both involved with Merrymeeting Food Council, will share tips and tricks for making the most of local foods in spring including when and how to find local greens, eggs, seafood, and more. This workshop will also include a soup making demo utilizing local ingredients. Come for the cooking demo and to learn about work going on in our community and state that supports local producers and harvesters and ways to get involved.

This event will be held in-person at the Curtis Memorial Library Morrell Meeting Room on Sunday, March 8th, 2:00-3:30pm.

This event is part of the annual Winter Garden Workshop Series: Growing Literacy! Every year, Brunswick-Topsham Land Trust, in collaboration with Growing to Give and Curtis Memorial Library, offers this event series to offer skill-building workshops and learning opportunities for gardeners of all abilities. Thank you to Camden National Bank for sponsoring this series. 💚

Community and school gardens are such incredible resources for increasing access to nutritious local food and the knowledge of how to grow that food for all ages! Three local gardens are currently raising funds to keep teaching skills and feeding our communities.
If you can help support these school and community gardens, please consider doing so.

UPDATE: rain or shine…we will have dinner to-go even if the concert gets rained out!

Join us on Sunday 8/17 for dinner & a concert!

Last year's dinner was so much fun, we are back for a second year! Bring your family and friends, a blanket or chairs, and enjoy the music of the Intergalactic Yurt Band. Dinner starts at 5:30, music runs from 6-8.

We will be serving up rice bowls with a choice of chicken, beans, slaw, summery drinks, and dessert. GF and vegetarian options.

1 Main St./Mailly Waterfront Park in Bowdoinham. Dinner is by donation, $12 suggested, cash or Venmo. If it is raining, we will still serve up meals-to-go!

Mid Coast Hunger Prevention Program has been a part of the Food Council for nearly 10 years building collaborative programs like the Merrymeeting Gleaners and the Community Kitchen, alongside their pantry and soup kitchen programs. These collaborative programs enable community members and producers to come together around food and support one another. Join us for dinner cooked in the Community Kitchen by chef Randy, plus MFC staff and volunteers. We encourage you to take a minute to learn about these amazing programs and how you can get involved.
