Bienvenue
A Gracious Setting for your Joyous Celebration
This Greek-Revival home, circa 1902, is defined by eight 2-story Georgian columns, solid long-leaf pine trunks shaped in mills geared for turning masts for sailing ships. The name of the house is French for "Welcome", celebrating the rich diversity of our modern community. This special welcome extends to each visitor the Southern Hospitali
ty inherent in this dwelling and in its gracious neighborhood. Whether planning a wedding, anniversary, birthday, luncheon, or any special gathering, Bienvenue will "welcome" your guests in true southern fashion. HISTORY
Bienvenue was built from a Barber design, by a wealthy businessman Jacob Lissner, who wanted "the grandest house on Union Street" for his family. His attention to detail shows in the expansive staircase, the oak carved mantels and cast bronze covers on the fireplaces, and the his-and-hers baths with marble sinks and claw tubs. The rear, 2nd floor, glassed-in sun porch was added by 20th Century Fox during the filming of the 1974 movie "Conrak", starring a young Jon Voight, based on the book "The Water is Wide" by Pat Conroy. YOUR EVENT

The large, downstairs rooms with 11 foot ceilings, all connect to each other via wide, pocket doors which can remain open for easy flow among the rooms. The sweeping (692 sq ft) veranda allows guests to enjoy the warm coastal breeze in casual comfort with a courtyard view. Southern entry to the house is through the Solarium (121 sq ft)
