“We always wanted to do housing to help folks in homelessness but had never done it because we didn’t have services available for folks,” shares Mike Myatt, Chief Executive Officer at Bangor Housing. “But when this project came about, we really wanted to do it.”

As a next step forward to addressing chronic homelessness in Maine, Preble Street and BangorHousing are partnering on two new Home for Good projects in Bangor, building 60 new efficiency apartments where tenants will have access to 24/7 social work supports.

Successfully housing people who have been chronically homeless helps to relieve stress on the entire system and allows communities to more efficiently use existing resources.
