TRASH TALKING FUN - Burroughs-Molette Elementary

KGIB's next stop on the IS TRASH REALLY TRASH 2026-27 school year tour was Burroughs-Molette Elementary School, with two 45-minute interactive presentations reaching a total of 67 students in four total classes.

Targeting third graders, the IS TRASH REALLY TRASH in class presentation examines landfill waste reduction via upcycling, recycling and donation. Students are taught about dump vs landfills, products, product life spans, environmental stewardship and are equipped with tools to make smart consumer decisions before “throwing” trash away.

Lively and interactive, IS TRASH REALLY TRASH encourages students to reexamine what they perceive as trash and to seek alternative disposal options. Each student receives a branded pencil upcycled from newspaper and custom bookmark made on recycled papare, and each library a sustainability themed book.

Simply contact Keep Golden Isles Beautiful to verify a school’s Challenge participation and arrange to drop collected items by the KGIB offices November 2-16. Collected items should be separated by category and labeled with the intended school name.

The City of Brunswick Neighborhood and Community Services is excited to announce the Minor/Major Home Repair Program, funded by the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) is accepting in-person pre-screenings on October 22nd from 9AM - 10AM.

✅ Do you live within the city of Brunswick?
✅ Are you a homeowner and the primary resident?
✅ Do you meet the low-to moderate-income (LMI) guidelines?

Space is limited; first come, first served. Pre-screenings do not guarantee approval. If eligible, you will be invited to complete the full application.
