🐾🩵 We invite our community to take a moment to watch this memorial video honoring K9 Chief and to listen to his final call. While it may seem like a small act, it is one way we can all pay tribute to an extraordinary partner, protector, most loyal friend, and beloved member of the Glynn County Police Department family.

Through his service, dedication, and unwavering loyalty, Chief left lifelong impressions on everyone he encountered. Whether he was working alongside officers, engaging with members of the community, or simply being the incredible dog that he was, Chief touched countless lives.

The bond between Chief and his handler, Sergeant Duggan, was one built on trust, loyalty, and unconditional love. Chief was more than a partner—he was family. The loss of Chief is felt deeply by Sgt. Duggan, the members of GCPD, and the many community members who came to know and love him.

We are incredibly grateful to the many law enforcement agencies and first responders who came together to es**rt Chief on his final watch. The outpouring of love, respect, and honor shown to Chief and Sgt. Duggan was a powerful reminder of the impact he had on so many lives and means more than we can express in words.

While our hearts are heavy, we take comfort in knowing that Chief's legacy will live on through the lives he touched, the memories he created, and the service he so faithfully provided.

Thank you for your service, Chief. Your duty is complete and your watch may be over, but your memory will remain with us forever.

Rest easy, Chief. 🐾🩵

In Memory of K-9 Chief 🐾

It is with great sadness that the Glynn County Police Department announces the passing of K-9 Chief, a loyal partner, dedicated protector, and valued member of our law enforcement family.

This past week, K9 Chief was a little sluggish, but was happy and excited to be a Special Guest on Saturday at the Evening for the K9's hosted by the Georgia Police K-9 Foundation. Chief was his usual self, spreading smiles on the faces of children and shmoozing with the ladies. He reserved his hugs for the special one's.

On Sunday night, Chief became weak and was not acting like his usual self. He was taken Monday to Southeast Georgia Veterinary Clinic. After a few hours, Chief was transferred to Robinson 24 Hour Veterinary Hospital in Fernandina Beach, Fl. Where he remained until Wednesday afternoon. Chief was then rushed to University of Florida Veterinary Hospital where he received the best medical care possible. Chief passed away early this morning from a sudden and tragic illness caused by Intraventricular Hemorrhage (brain bleed).

Thank you to all the doctors, nurses and specialists who took care of Chief. An especially gracious thank you to the Georgia Police K9 Foundation for offering their services which gave Chief the best care possible. K-9 Chief will be remembered at the upcoming 2027 Evening for the K9's being held in Glynn County June 5th 2027.

Words cannot begin to express the loss. K-9 Chief had a profound effect on the community he served, and an even larger following. K-9 Chief faithfully served the citizens of our community from 2022 to 2026, working alongside his handler, Sergeant Duggan. Throughout his distinguished career, K-9 Chief demonstrated unwavering courage, exceptional skill, and an unmatched dedication to duty. Whether tracking suspects, locating evidence, conducting searches, or protecting his handler and fellow officers, K-9 Chief exemplified the highest standards of service.

During his years of service, K-9 Chief contributed to countless successful operations and helped keep both officers and community members safe. His work led to numerous arrests, the recovery of critical evidence, and the resolution of investigations that might otherwise have gone unsolved. More than his accomplishments, however, K-9 Chief will be remembered for his loyalty, intelligence, and steadfast commitment to those he served.
K-9 Chief was more than a police dog—he was a partner, a guardian, and a friend. His legacy will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of serving alongside him.

We extend our deepest condolences to Sergeant Duggan, family members, and all who knew and loved K-9 Chief.

End of Watch: June 11, 2026

Thank you for your service, K-9 Chief. You answered every call without hesitation, stood watch over your community with honor, and left paw prints on the hearts of all who knew you.
Rest easy, faithful partner. Your watch is over.

We were honored to be invited to the Third Annual First Responders Appreciation & Awards Luncheon, hosted by the Brunswick-Golden Isles Chamber of Commerce.

It was a privilege to witness first responders and law enforcement professionals from agencies across our community being recognized for their hard work, commitment, and service. We are especially proud of Officer Henderson and Officer Lang (pictured), along with Officer Kennedy and Officer Rourke (not pictured), who were each awarded the Award of Valor for their courage, professionalism, and actions in the line of duty.

Below is a short summary into a critical incident that made these officers deserving of this award:
