🌟 Life Saver Award Presentation 🌟
At yesterday’s Trustees meeting, Assistant Chief Tim Haas—along with Cleveland Clinic Medical Control Dr. Ruhlin and EMS Coordinator Mike Savetski—proudly presented Firefighters Jacob Curtis, Nick Mehalic, Andrew Pavell, Christian Murray, Chris Kavulic, and Andrew Cellura with a Life Saver Award for their heroic actions on a critical medical call this past May.

The department was dispatched to a local restaurant for a choking female. Bystanders immediately initiated abdominal thrusts until Fire Inspector Kavulic, who was down the road conducting an inspection, arrived on scene to take over care. By that time, the patient had gone into cardiac arrest, and CPR was initiated. Crew members from both stations responded rapidly.
Thanks to the quick-thinking bystanders who knew how to act, combined with the prompt response and advanced care from our paramedics, the patient not only regained a pulse and independent breathing on scene, but was discharged from the hospital just a few days later with minimal health issues.

These types of positive outcomes are incredibly rare in cardiac arrest cases. We would like to recognize and thank everyone who had a hand in saving this life.

Early recognition, immediate bystander intervention, and high-quality CPR save lives. If you or your organization are interested in CPR classes, please reach out to:

Outstanding job to everyone involved!

Today, the Brunswick Hills Fire Department pauses to remember and honor the men and women of our Armed Forces who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our nation.

We are forever grateful for their courage, selflessness, and dedication to protecting our freedom. Our thoughts are with the families of our fallen heroes today and every day.

May we live our lives in a way that honors their legacy.

Today begins the start of National EMS week in the United States. This years theme is “improving outcomes, together”, highlighting the vital partnerships among EMTs, paramedics, 911 dispatchers, and allied healthcare teams. All Brunswick Hills firefighters are trained in EMS and function under the Cleveland Clinic Brunswick as our medical control. We would like to thank all EMS providers, especially our members, for the hard work and dedication they display to save lives and serve the community every day. We would also like to thank the township administration and our citizens for their unwavering support of our department.
