Biology students celebrated their hard work this semester by becoming a Biologist for a Day earlier this week! Students were invited to sign up for a session that piqued their interest and to explore scientific career opportunities.

In Mr. Deraney’s session, students learned from the Georgia Sea Turtle Center about sea turtle rescue and rehabilitation. Using collected data, students completed an intake for a sample patient and discussed conservation efforts to help protect sea turtles in the future.

In Mrs. Hardman's session, Ms. Brooke Vallastar from the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) shared about job opportunities, fish anatomy, and how to age a fish during a dissection.

In Mr. Fitzgerald's session, students explored the importance of studying horseshoe biology with the guidance of Mr. Adam McKinnin from DNR and were even able to tag two live individuals for scientific research.

In Ms. Wynn's session, students learned how to perform a necropsy on stranded marine animals and then identified the cause of death for a spiny dogfish shark.

Thank you, Ms. Griner, for your commitment and service to Brunswick High. Generations of students are better because of the time and encouragement she provided.
