With heavy hearts, all of us at Honor Flight Maine extend our deepest sympathy to Kim Charland and her family.

Kim’s unwavering support, dedication, and generosity over the years—especially the countless hours she invested in our annual telethon—meant so much to our mission.

We honor Kim’s legacy and the many ways she made a difference.

With sincere condolences,
Honor Flight Maine

Kim Charland worked for NEWS CENTER Maine for 20 years, helping Mainers through projects like the Feed ME telethon and Coats and Toys for Kids. https://www.newscentermaine.com/article/news/local/remembering-kim-charland-woman-who-helped-community-through-news-center-maine/97-501c9fc9-977b-4836-bce8-9b879ccac1eb?utm_campaign=snd-autopilot&utm_medium=social&utm_source=facebook_NEWS_CENTER_Maine

Huge thank you to Maine Motorcyclist for Charity for putting together such a great co****le tournament! It was an awesome day filled with good people, friendly competition, and a great cause.
Because of everyone who organized, played, donated, and showed support, funds were raised to help send multiple veterans on their Honor Flight. That means more heroes getting the chance to visit the memorials built in their honor — something they truly deserve. 🇺🇸✈️

We’re currently looking to connect with an experienced grant writer to help support and grow the mission of Honor Flight.

If you have a strong track record of researching, writing, and securing grants — especially for nonprofit or veteran-focused organizations — we would love to talk with you. Our goal is to expand funding opportunities so we can continue honoring and serving those who have sacrificed so much.

If you’re a grant writer (or can recommend someone who is), please comment below or send a direct message. We are very interested in connecting with you to explore how we can work together to make a greater impact.

Thank you for helping us spread the word!

Please message us here or email [email protected] with your thoughts and/or resume!

We are looking to connect with anyone who has experience in digital marketing — especially creating compelling video segments for social media, marketing campaigns, or community outreach.

We’re exploring ways to elevate awareness for Honor Flight and better share the powerful stories of the veterans they serve. From short-form reels to longer storytelling pieces, we’d love to collaborate with someone who understands how to craft content that inspires, engages, and drives support.

If you have expertise in video production, editing, content strategy, paid ads, or campaign development — or if you can recommend someone — we would be very interested in working with you to help amplify this mission and make a meaningful impact.

We are looking for more than just social media content.

Please message us or email [email protected] with your thoughts and resume!

On February 19, 1945, U.S. Marines stormed the black sand beaches of Iwo Jima, beginning one of the most intense and costly battles of World War II.

Facing deeply entrenched Japanese defenses, the Marines fought yard by yard for 36 brutal days. The island was small—just eight square miles—but it became sacred ground, marked by extraordinary courage, sacrifice, and brotherhood.

The battle produced one of the most iconic images in American history: the raising of the flag atop Mount Suribachi, captured by photographer Joe Rosenthal. That moment symbolized hope, resilience, and the unwavering spirit of those who served.

More than 6,800 American service members gave their lives at Iwo Jima, and thousands more were wounded. Today, we honor the bravery of the Marines and Sailors who fought there, remembering the cost of freedom and the legacy they left behind.

Semper Fidelis. 🇺🇸
