Thank you so much to all my family, friends, and community members that took the time to go support me. I may not have won tonight in many eyes but my heart was so full with all the messages, gifts, and encouraging words and hugs I felt all day.

I’m so sorry to the ones that were heart broken, we ran a race that was full of HONESTY, Grace, and dignity!
I never said a negative word about my opponent and I feel confident to know that God is proud of me and my family!
Onto working with my youth more, serving the school I love with pride, snuggling my grand baby more, and making memories that will last a lifetime with my favorite people.

15.Where are your favorite places to spend time in the town?

From when I was a child, I remember playing football in the back yard of my friends when I lived in the village and walking to Izzy’s to get a one cent tootsie roll. As an adult I enjoy walking into martins and visiting with neighbors and checking how they are doing. Everyone knows mad joes has the best potatoes logs and the pizza shops and diner have the best food. My favorite places to spend time in this town is a variety of locations. I absolutely love going to school and seeing the kids achieve at concerts, awards nights, dances, and fundraisers. I love spending time with the local churches and helping the vision for their community come to life. Recently I have a new heart for the adult center and all the changes that are taking place there. To see the community step up and plan events and give of themselves to see the community come together is what I want to be a part of.

Through life I have faced many tragedies deaths, house fire, and sicknesses. The one thing that I believe the town of Moira has is a heart for their neighbor. I have been able to bless local families with fundraisers when they were battling cancer and needing playgrounds. I have also been on the other end of that when my home burnt and we had nothing. The community stepped up brought us vehicles, food, and took my children shopping. This community is always one phone call away from helping their neighbor. So, no matter where you attend in the community, I believe you do get a chance to be a part of something bigger. I love seeing our community members take time out of their day to attend these activities, memorial garden, playground maintenance day and not just sit back and enjoy their own lives. Most people in this town step up when there is a need no matter the location.

24.Can you assure there is no bias in who you choose to appoint or work with?

I can assure when I appoint or choose someone, I work with I will absolutely put the town first in all my decisions. As I have been a leader for years, I am always looking for individuals that have a desire to serve, the time to do so, and willingness to work as a team. Being town supervisor will be no different.
For example, if I am elected, I will need to appoint a deputy. I will absolutely pick the person who has a dedication to see this town thrive and want to make it better. Who will work well with me as well as with the board and officials. I will pursue a person who wants to serve before it being an agenda.

And at the debate I made sure to state facts about the difference between Town Supervisor and my husbands job. I know there is speculation of how this will be handled.
Stacey is employed by the Town of Moira. His “boss” is an elected official, Mike Helm. As an elected official I cannot tell Mike what to do and only just work with a budget with him. When contracts and discipline comes into play the board will vote in there opinion and I will abstain. I will have a deputy that will break the tie when needed.
So…. Long story short I was not or will not be helping my husbands job as it is not my job to do so ! I am only his boss at home 😂

3.How do you plan on overcoming the perceived lack of transparency of our town government by the community?
Well, if you know me you know I’m an open book. I wear my emotions on my sleeve and do not hold back my passion for what I believe in. Whenever I am in a leadership role, I have always made sure to be transparent and get as many people involved as I can. Being on the board of education for years I have always been open and honest about why and what we do. I have never held back my vision for our school and openly invite parents and staff to the board meetings. I receive many phone calls a week for situations in the school and encourage parents and staff to come to the meetings. You cannot be part of the solution to a problem by sitting back.
As supervisor I plan to openly invite community members to board meetings, help Amanda with the website and put-up local events and updates, and always update my Facebook supervisor page for the social media buffs. My phone is always on and I am blessed enough to have the flexibility to be able to take those phone calls throughout the week.
Another way I will involve community is going forward and revamp the committees we have. There are currently 6 committees that are made up of community members, board members, and leaders in the community involved. I plan to go over that list help recruit more people and plan to check in with these committees quarterly if not more if needed.

27.What is one difference between you and your opponent’s management style?
Well, up until July I had never knew my opponent. I had never and still have never had a conversation with him, so my opinion is based on his campaign.
As far as what I can see from his campaign his mgmt. style will be controlling, and will want to change everything without really understanding what may need to be changed. I think he will not ask the ones involved or the ones leaving in January what they feel has worked or works and that doesn’t need improvement.
My management style will be a team effort. I want to work with those that are involved and are dedicated to serving the community. Leaders don’t come in being critical but want to work together with the people they are serving with.

Last month I had a privilege to participate in a debate at BMC. We were given the questions in advance and I had the opportunity to share my research and ideas that night.
This week I will share some of the key questions that I was asked and answered for anyone that was not able to attend!
Do you have any ideas/plans that would be for the school?
As I have served on the board of education here for the past years, I have learned what the community wants from the school. I was part of helping a group of school parents, the town highway department, and school team work together by bringing everyone together to work out a plan that works for everyone. I believe the only way to get things done is have all parties involved work together, hear each other, and go forward with a solution. The town highway and school work together by communicating when weather is going to be a problem. They help plan for delays, early dismissals, and when roads will be cleared. I will keep that open communication going as a town supervisor as well.
As I have learned in the past few months unfortunately, I will have to resign from being on the school board if the town elects me in November. I will even if elected still play a role in the school. Before I was elected to be on the board, I was actively involved in the BMRT, Brushton Moira Resource Team, focus team, and represented parents in IEP meetings. I have changed policies before I was a board member. That will not change in the future. I have confirmed with the school superintendent if I resign from board that I will in fact be able to go back to acting as a parent rep for committees I was involved in before and a few more if needed. I believe having a parent voice in the school is a huge asset for our teachers, admin team, and students. I also can’t see why having me as a town supervisor will not only help to bridge another gap from community to school but also enhance what each team needs.
I currently serve on the safety committee at the school and I believe there is a gap between town and school when it comes to school safety plan and I hope to stay on this committee and be a voice for the town in this area. I would love to be a part of getting our youth involved in local volunteer opportunities. By giving information to the school for possible participation in volunteering in the local fire department, food pantry, and any community service opportunities. I want to encourage the youth in our community to serve so when they become adults, they want to move back to their hometown and raise their families here. I want the teachers in our school to want to live in our town and be a part of it.

One thing I love to do is lead events in the community. When elected I plan to start getting more events for our little town that include families and businesses. My passion is to lead a team to come together to complete a vision.
Friday was our 3rd annual Hope Ablaze Youth Conference. I led a team in the most amazing night for our youth. We had teens come from Plattsburgh, Massena, Lake placid, Brushton and Malone. I worked beside some amazing people that put their hearts into this event as well.
They sang, sat for teaching, and competed in games! What a beautiful vision to see so many months come to completion. I love the youth and being a youth leader!!!

THIS IS COMMUNITY!!!
When I announced I was running for supervisor, immediately community members started asking about the Sayles road field site. I went to the youth sports committee, town officials, etc…to ask details.
While we wait for the grant to come in, Mike Helm and the town workers have stepped up to help get some ground work started!
Community is coming together for one cause!
The past couple weeks on off time the boys had the equipment over to the field leveling, and making the ground work look amazing!
Great job guys, I can’t wait to work with you all to see great things come to completion.

Happy Thursday everyone!
Less than two weeks away and I’m super excited to see this part of my race come to an end. I’m excited to do the work that needs to be done in our town and so ready to get started on some new plans.
We have found multiple grants that we will
be applying for that will, if granted to us, be put into making our parks look amazing and be utilized more. We need to be out and using these parks for fun gatherings and to become a community again. We are blessed to live in an area that has so much beauty to enjoy most of the year and I’m so ready to get that going!!!

Last night was a great night at the public hearing, full of information for the next year!
I love asking questions and hearing future plans for our town. When I’m elected in November I will try and get the public motivated to show up. As Stacey and I were the only public in attendance along with the board and officials, I think it’s a great way for community members to be aware of what and why the town does what they do with our taxes and other revenue!
To hear about future truck purchase, salt shed, and discussion on next year I am more motivated to be a part of this. Moira is moving forward with great plans and I hope to be able to lead this process with everyone there as a team.
Thank you Angela Debeer, you are a huge asset to this town and I’m thankful for your hard work and dedication.
