An oversized load will travel from Navasota through Grimes and Brazos counties today, beginning around 8:30 a.m., before stopping in Robertson County.

Drivers will experience delays along the route. Please use caution, allow extra travel time, and give the transport vehicles and es**rt crews plenty of room to safely maneuver. Traffic is expected to be heavily impacted as the es**rt travels through the construction zones along Highway 6.

Official Traffic Advisory: Highway 6 Southbound Reduced to One Lane

TRAFFIC ADVISORY

Motorists are advised that the southbound lanes of Highway 6 have been reduced to one lane at the Grimes County line due to construction activity. Drivers are urged to use caution, obey all traffic control measures, and refrain from driving through the median. Deputies are monitoring the construction zone. Traffic is currently backed up to Westward Ho. Please plan accordingly and travel safely.

📚Back to School Safety Reminder📚

Today marks the first day of school for College Station ISD, while Bryan ISD students have already returned to the classroom. With students across our community now back in school, please slow down, stop at all stop signs, obey traffic laws, and watch carefully for children, school buses, and crossing guards.

School-zone speed limits may vary, so pay close attention to posted signs and flashing lights. Please put away distractions and give yourself extra time during your commute.

Our deputies will be actively patrolling school zones to help keep our students, families, and community safe.

The Brazos County Sheriff’s Office is excited to help facilitate this valuable training opportunity right here in Brazos County!

The Sheriffs’ Association of Texas, in partnership with the Bill Blackwood Law Enforcement Management Institute of Texas, will present a three-day Public Information Officer Course on August 17–19 at the Brazos Center in Bryan.

This course meets the PIO training requirements established under House Bill 33, the Uvalde Strong Act. Topics include writing media releases, on-camera briefings, social media, crisis communications, public relations strategies and public information campaigns.

Today, Sheriff Wayne Dicky recognized Deputy Cordell Contestabile and Corporal Latoya Taylor for earning the Certified Jail Officer (CJO) designation through the American Jail Association.

The CJO designation is a nationally recognized certification that demonstrates advanced knowledge, professionalism, and a commitment to excellence in the corrections profession. This certification is voluntary and requires officers to meet eligibility requirements and successfully pass a comprehensive examination.

What makes this achievement especially noteworthy is that both Deputy Contestabile and Corporal Taylor chose to pursue this certification on their own. Their dedication to continuing their professional development reflects the initiative, professionalism, and commitment to excellence that help make the Brazos County Sheriff's Office stronger every day.

Whether he's stepping up to help a coworker, volunteering to cover an extra shift, or simply leading by example, Officer Sims consistently puts the team before himself.

Please join us in congratulating Sgt. Brittany Re and Lt. Steven White on graduating from the prestigious Leadership Command College Class 105 at the Bill Blackwood Law Enforcement Management Institute of Texas (LEMIT) at Sam Houston State University.

Leadership Command College is a nationally recognized executive leadership program that prepares current and future law enforcement leaders through advanced training in leadership, ethics, communication, organizational management, and strategic decision-making.

Sgt. Re and Lt. White were among only 27 law enforcement professionals from agencies across Texas selected to complete Class 105. Their class motto, "Lead with Purpose – Serve with Honor," reflects the dedication, professionalism, and commitment they demonstrate every day while serving the citizens of Brazos County.

Their graduation represents more than a personal accomplishment. It reflects a continued commitment to learning, servant leadership, and providing the highest level of service to our community.
