💜 We are excited to be part of turning the Brazos Valley Fair & Rodeo PURPLE on October 25 in recognition of Domestic Violence Awareness Month!

Even more meaningful, money raised that evening will benefit Twin City Mission, an organization that provides vital local resources and support to survivors of domestic violence right here in the Brazos Valley.

At the Brazos County Sheriff’s Office, we stand with survivors, honor the courage it takes to seek help, and remember those whose lives have been lost to domestic violence.

To anyone in our community who has experienced domestic violence, you are not alone. You are seen, you are heard, and you deserve to feel safe.

💜 Today is Wear Purple Day! 💜

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and today is a reminder that behind every statistic is a real person, a family, and a story that matters.

We are excited to announce that the Brazos County Sheriff’s Office is partnering with the Brazos Valley Fair & Rodeo, Twin City Mission, and the Man Up Crusade for Purple Night at the Fair on Sunday, October 25! 💜

This special night is about bringing our community together to raise awareness, support survivors, and remind those experiencing domestic violence that they are not alone.

Twin City Mission provides free domestic violence services throughout all seven Brazos Valley counties, including counseling, safety planning, legal advocacy, and emergency shelter for those who need it.

💜 Wear purple to show your support for survivors and remind them they are not alone.

Brazos County Sheriff’s Office Provides Update on Ongoing Investigation

Brazos County, Texas – The Brazos County Sheriff’s Office is providing an update to the community regarding the ongoing investigation that resulted in the September 23, 2026, arrest of Gerardo Gonzalez, 22, of College Station.

The investigation began after the Sheriff’s Office received a CyberTip regarding videos reported to potentially contain child po*******hy. Investigators worked to identify the individual associated with the videos and, on September 23, obtained warrants and arrested Gonzalez.

Since the initial arrest, deputies with the Sheriff’s Office Special Investigative Unit have continued working the case and gathering additional information. As a result of that continued investigation, an additional warrant has been obtained charging Gonzalez with: Continuous Sexual Abuse of a Young Child: Victim Under 14 (First Degree Felony).

Gonzalez remains in the Brazos County Jail.

Investigators have no information that any of the offenses under investigation were related to Gonzalez’s former employment at CSISD.

Good news, Brazos County! This morning, Judge Duane Peters signed an order lifting the county burn ban, effective immediately.

While we’re glad to see the burn ban lifted, we still encourage everyone to use caution and practice safe burning. Before starting any outdoor fire, make sure you have plenty of water nearby, keep fires away from structures and anything that could easily catch fire, and never leave a fire unattended. Always make sure your fire is completely out before leaving the area.

Brazos County Sheriff’s Office Investigating Fatal Shooting
October 1, 2026

The Brazos County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death of a female who was located Wednesday night at a residence in northern Brazos County.

Just after 9 p.m., deputies were dispatched to a residence in the 6400 block of Trace Bend in response to a welfare concern. When deputies arrived, they located a deceased female who had suffered a gunshot wound.

The victim has been identified as Veronica Tussey-Taylor, 59, a Brazos County resident.

During the investigation, investigators determined that the victim’s vehicle was missing from the residence and developed a suspect in the case. Investigators utilized automated license plate reader technology, including Flock cameras, to determine that the victim’s vehicle had left Brazos County and was in the Houston area.

Brazos County Sheriff’s Office deputies continued their investigation and obtained information indicating that the victim’s vehicle may be located at a property in northern Harris County. Brazos County deputies began responding to the property to assist with locating the vehicle. During this time, a Texas Department of Public Safety helicopter located the vehicle on the property.

Shortly later Brazos County deputies arrived in the area in an unmarked vehicle to provide surveillance while Harris County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the property. Before deputies entered the property, the suspect took his own life using a fi***rm. Upon locating the suspect, he was confirmed to be deceased.

The male subject has been identified as John Goodwin, 54, a College Station resident.
The victim and the male subject were known to each other.

The investigation remains ongoing, and investigators from the Brazos County Sheriff’s Office continue to work with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, the Texas Department of Public Safety, and other law enforcement agencies involved in the investigation. We want to thank these agencies with their assistance in this investigation.

Our thoughts are with the victim’s family, and everyone affected by this tragic incident.

We are proud to recognize Deputy Abraham Rodriguez for his dedication to keeping Brazos County roadways safe.

On September 23, Deputy Rodriguez was recognized at the Highway Heroes Impaired Driving Enforcement Awards Luncheon for his commitment to impaired driving enforcement and roadway safety.

Impaired driving puts drivers, passengers and others on the road at risk. These crashes are 100% preventable. Every time you plan to drink, make a plan for a sober ride. Designate a sober driver, call a rideshare, or find another safe way home.

Thank you, Deputy Rodriguez, for your continued dedication to protecting our community and helping keep impaired drivers off our roads.

🔬 Happy National Forensic Science Week!

This week, the Brazos County Sheriff’s Office would like to recognize and thank Crime Scene Investigator Brian Hagen for the work he does every day behind the scenes to help our deputies and investigators put the pieces together.

Crime scene work takes patience, precision, and an incredible attention to detail. From documenting a scene and collecting evidence to processing the smallest details that could become an important part of an investigation, Brian’s work plays a vital role in helping us find answers and pursue justice.

A lot of this work happens quietly, long after the scene has been cleared. But every photograph, piece of evidence, report, and detail matters.

Brian, thank you for your dedication, professionalism, and the work you put in every day to support the Brazos County Sheriff’s Office and the people we serve. We appreciate everything you do!
