UPDATE 1:58 P.M.

Roadway in the 5000 block of E SH 21 eastbound is partially back open. The outside lane of travel will remain closed due to extensive damage to powerline poles from the crash. Inside lane of travel is open. Crews will be working in the area to fix the damaged lines / poles. BPD asks anyone traveling in the area to slow down.

BPD is currently on-scene of a major crash in the 5000 block of E SH 21. This has eastbound traffic slowed down. The outside lane of travel will be shutdown for an extensive period of time due to property damage sustained during the crash. Please slow down if traveling in the area so emergency crews can work.

Bryan Police Continue Investigating Shooting

UPDATE from August 8, 2026 Shooting

The 42-year-old female victim has been released from the hospital.

The Bryan Police Department continues to actively work this case, following any and all investigative leads. We continue to ask the community for help providing cell phone video, social media video, recordings, surveillance, still shots, and audio recordings of the event.

The Bryan Police Department is investigating two separate assaults involving adult women that occurred several hours apart at the Brookside Apartments on August 8 and August 9, 2026. Detectives are actively investigating both incidents and reviewing available evidence. At this time, investigators believe the incidents are related.
Detectives are seeking information regarding a suspect described as a black male, approximately 5 feet 7 inches tall, weighing approximately 150 pounds, with a thin build. He was reported to be wearing a black ball cap with an orange bandana underneath.

Anyone who witnessed either incident, has relevant video or information, or observed suspicious activity in the area between 10 p.m. on August 8 and 2 a.m. on August 9, is asked to contact the Bryan Police Department at (979) 209-5363. You can submit video surveillance to the link below.
