⚠️ 911 SERVICE OUTAGE — WILLIAMS COUNTY ⚠️

Williams County is currently experiencing a 911 outage due to a local telephone provider issue.

If you have a police, fire, or medical emergency and cannot reach 911, please call 419-633-5115 or text 911. These will connect you to Williams County Central Communications.

➡️ Please use these only if you have a genuine emergency. Keeping the lines open helps us reach the people who need help most.

We are working with our provider to restore 911 service as quickly as possible and will post an update as soon as it is back online.

Please SHARE this post so your family, friends, and neighbors are aware.

⚠️ SCAM ALERT — PHONE SPOOFING

Williams County residents are reporting calls where the caller ID shows "Stryker Police Department" along with the department's actual phone number, (419) 682-4911. The caller claims to be from the PD. These calls are NOT coming from the Stryker Police Department.

Scammers are using a technique called caller ID spoofing to fake both the name AND the number that appear on your phone — meaning a scam call can look identical to a real one from the police department.

The Williams County Sheriff's Office, local police departments, and Central Communications will NEVER call you to ask for personal information, payment, or money of any kind.

If a call seems suspicious — even if the caller ID matches a real police number — hang up and call directly:

Stryker Police Department: (419) 682-4911
Williams County Central Communications: (419) 636-8497

When in doubt, hang up and call back.

We have received reports of AT&T outages in the northern part of our county. We have not been provided any information on an estimated restoration timeline. In the event of an emergency, you can still dial 911. Even without service, most modern cell phones will connect to another carrier’s cell tower to complete the emergency call.

Behind every siren is a voice guiding the way.

This National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week, we want to take a moment to recognize the voices behind the scenes—the ones who stay calm under pressure, who answer every call for help, and who make a difference in people’s lives every single day.

To our dispatchers: thank you for your strength, your compassion, and your commitment to our community. We couldn’t do it without you. 💛
