Today’s groundbreaking marks more than just a new facility, it’s a commitment to stronger, more reliable public transportation for our communities. We are grateful for the partnership and support that made this possible, and especially thankful to Congressman Pete Sessions for being here and for his continued leadership in advancing infrastructure across our region.

Brazos Transit District recently spent time in Washington, DC, participating in the CTAA Legislative Fly-In, where transit agencies from across the United States gathered to meet with federal leaders and advocate for the importance of public transportation.

During the visit, BTD held productive and meaningful conversations with members of Congress and Senate offices representing communities within our service area. These discussions allowed us to highlight the transportation needs of the cities and rural communities we serve and emphasize the vital role transit plays in connecting people to jobs, healthcare, education, and essential services.

Engaging in these conversations and building strong relationships with our federal delegation helps ensure our communities remain part of the national transportation dialogue and are well positioned for future investment in reliable and accessible transit.

We were also proud to have two of our Board Members join us for these meetings. Robert Shankle, Mayor Pro Tem for the City of Lufkin, and Ryan Taylor, City Council Member for the City of Daisetta, shared firsthand perspectives on how transit strengthens mobility and opportunity in their communities.

Brazos Transit District remains committed to advocating for the resources and partnerships needed to continue improving service and supporting the growth of the regions we serve.

Every mile we travel and every rider we serve is made possible by an incredible team of dedicated employees.

From our drivers and dispatchers to maintenance staff, customer service representatives, administrative teams, and leadership, each person plays an important role in keeping our communities connected. Their commitment, professionalism, and compassion ensure that thousands of people can get to work, school, medical appointments, and essential services every single day.

Transit is more than buses and routes. It is people helping people.

We are grateful for the hard work, teamwork, and heart our employees bring to Brazos Transit District each day. Thank you for the difference you make in the lives of our riders and in the communities we serve.

Today and every day, we appreciate you.
