// Grow your self-awareness with purpose and persistence

At the end of every Set Your Sights on Organizational Leadership program, we ask the cohort how they have changed as a leader. Tiffany shared:

"I have become more intentional about how I show up in leadership spaces."

Being mindful about your actions can significantly change the way you relate to your team. Tiffany had that experience at NELI:

"One of the biggest shifts for me has been developing a deeper sense of self-awareness.

"I've learned to pause and reflect more, rather than react, especially in high-stress or emotionally charged situations. This has helped me lead with more empathy, patience, and clarity, particularly in my work supporting women in recovery, where understanding individual needs and experiences are essential."

Esha Dev, recent graduate of Bryn Mawr College’s Graduate School of Social Work and Social Research (GSSWSR), has some advice for incoming students: don’t wait until you feel ready. 🎓✨

Put in as much as you’re able to—and be proactive about the opportunities that genuinely pull you in. 🌱💡

Esha reflects on how Bryn Mawr encouraged her to explore the parts of the field she was curious about, not just the ones she thought she *should* pursue. 💭🤝

And honestly? Grad school can feel a little like a nest. 🪺

Comforting. Temporary. And way too easy to let pass by without making the most of it.

So take the chance. 🚀
Follow what draws you in. ❤️
Stay curious while you’re there. 🔎✨

💬 What’s one opportunity you’re glad you didn’t pass up? Tell us below! 👇

Sarah D’Antonio, recent graduate of Bryn Mawr College’s Graduate School of Social Work and Social Research (GSSWSR), has some honest advice for anyone starting a demanding graduate program: stop expecting balance. 🎓✨

Two years can go by fast—but sometimes the best way through is to embrace the season you’re in. 🔥

Sarah’s strategy? Tunnel vision. 👀
📚 School.
💼 Internship.
💻 Job.
🔁 Repeat.

Not because life disappears forever—but because the season is short, and the stress can feel lighter when you stop fighting the reality of it. 💛

Her other advice? Don’t lock yourself into one path too early. 🌱 Use electives to explore different areas of social work—clinical, macro, or somewhere in between. That overlap may matter more than you think. 💡

💬 If you’re in grad school, what would you choose: depth or flexibility? Tell us below! 👇

Prof. Cindy Sousa, faculty member at Bryn Mawr College’s Graduate School of Social Work and Social Research (GSSWSR), offers a powerful rethinking of what it means to mother, care, and resist. ❤️✊🏾

Mothering isn’t simply “care” when the world is trying to take your children. That idea can change how we think about parenting, community, and resistance. 🔥

Drawing on the work of Patricia Hill Collins, Prof Sousa reminds us that Black and Indigenous communities have long had to mother under conditions of hostility, surveillance, and erasure. 🖤🌿

Mothering can be protection. 🛡️
It can be cultural survival. ✨
It can be refusing to let systems decide what family gets to mean. 🤝🏾

💬 What does caregiving, protection, or community mean to you? Share your thoughts below! 👇🏾❤️

What no one tells you about stepping into leadership...

Stepping into executive leadership comes with a learning curve—and a lot of things you only realize once you get there.

When asked about his experience with Set Your Sights, Nick didn't sugarcoat it. He called the program:

"A great survey course covering all the benefits, pitfalls, and things you wish you knew before stepping into executive leadership."

His biggest shift wasn't just learning strategy—it was learning how his leadership style directly impacts his team.

"I've learned that any new solution is only as effective as the people being asked to carry it out, and getting them on board must be the top priority. The course has given me numerous tools and frameworks to articulate both how organizational decisions are getting made and how to create buy-in from the team to push our efforts forward."

-Nicholas Imparato
