I hope I served you well -
Six years ago this past Monday I was appointed as your Commissioner. Many of you still remember that was a terrible of a time for the Township and especially our tight knit community. When I started, I had no idea what the job of Commissioner entailed - I was just a Little League Coach that wanted to help my community going through a traumatic time. I had no formal preparation for the role, and no idea how the business of the township worked or the amount of time and toll it would it would take on me and my family. I had to figure almost all it all out on my own but when I did, I found my voice. I’m proud to say that I always put my Ward 7 neighbors first. I gave it my all and left it all on the field or should I say dais. I may not have been eloquent or a great public speaker but I was always authentically me. I came in with only one goal and that was to leave the Ward much better than it was. And we did.
We got a lot done over the past six years:
* Reestablished communication with the Ward
* Got a much needed comfort station in Emlen Tunnell Park
* Fixed the stadium light pollution in Old Oaks,
* Saved the Church and our community center
* Fixed the sidewalks on Lancaster / Old Oaks
* Implemented safety recommendations for the County Line Road Corridor
* Started making Emlen Tunnell a household name
* Made commercial outdoor dining legal and permanent in Garrett Hill
We celebrated together at the Garrett Hill Parades & Tree Lightings and we cried when we lost some great community leaders like Coach Pach and George Sydnor. We fed some of our food insecure neighbors with our make shift food bank, and ran clothing drives during Election Day to help clothe our homeless Veterans. We raised money to feed all of Radnor Township’s 130+ employees during COVID and also for a Garrett Hill resident who lost everything in a fire. We really got a lot done! All of these accomplishments and events were because of our great community and Radnor Township’s talented & dedicated staff.
It’s because of Radnor’s staff and our community that during my time as Commissioner I had some pretty amazing honors, two which stand out. The first was getting “coined” by the U.S. Coast Guard’s Commandant and throwing the first pitch ever out under the Encke lights on behalf of Radnor Wayne Little League.
But the biggest honor of all was your trust having overwhelmingly electing me twice. I am, and will forever be humbled by this incredible privilege.
It was an honor to have served you,
Sean
