Several years ago, our high school ELA department adopted the "Book Love" approach (inspired by Penny Kittle and Kelly Gallagher). As a district, we are proud to prioritize a culture where daily independent reading is the norm. By giving students the right books, dedicated time, and a supportive environment, we can reverse reading decline and foster a genuine, lifelong love of literature.

A special shoutout: Huge thanks to teachers Erica Neal and Cindy Hess, who work tirelessly to keep our ELA library robust, diverse, and full of texts that students are genuinely excited to read! ❤️

📊 Understanding Our School Finances: L-4029 vs. Budget Hearings

We know that school finance documents can look like a different language. To help bring clarity, we’ve put together a letter explaining the key differences between the L-4029 Tax Levy and our annual Budget Hearings.

Here is the quick breakdown of what each one does:

The L-4029 (Tax Rate Request): This is a formal state document that authorizes the district to collect the property taxes already approved by voters. It doesn't create new taxes.

The Budget Hearing: This is where we plan how to spend the revenue we receive. It outlines our projected income, staff salaries, building maintenance, classroom materials, and student programs for the upcoming school year.

The final bell has rung, the laptops are turned in, and the 2025–2026 school year is officially in the books! We couldn’t be prouder of our students, teachers, and staff for all their hard work, dedication, and school spirit this year.
