Some great tips for staying safe in the heat!

☀️ Extreme Heat Safety – Stay Cool, Licking County
Advisory through Thursday afternoon (9-3-26)
When temperatures climb, extreme heat can become dangerous quickly. Whether you're working outside, attending outdoor activities, or just spending time in the heat, make sure you're taking care of yourself and checking on those around you.

A few simple things can make a big difference:

💧 Drink plenty of water throughout the day. Don’t wait until you’re thirsty.
🏠 Spend time in air conditioning whenever possible, especially during the hottest part of the day.
🌳 Take frequent breaks in the shade if you have to work or be outside.
👕 Wear lightweight, loose-fitting clothing and limit strenuous outdoor activity.
👵 Check on family, friends, and neighbors, especially older adults and anyone who may not have air conditioning.
🚗 Never leave children or pets in a parked vehicle, even for a few minutes.
⚠️ Know the signs of heat illness. Dizziness, headache, nausea, weakness, confusion, or passing out can be signs that someone needs help.

Extreme heat is more than just uncomfortable—it can become a serious emergency.

Stay hydrated. Stay cool. Check on each other.

The Village was sprayed last week for mosquitoes. The Village will be sprayed tonight as well as Wednesday evening. We appreciate your patience as the heavy amount of rain and recent flooding has increased the mosquito population. Please use personal bug spray for yourselves in the meantime when heading outside and please, if you see the trucks spraying, go indoors so they can continue their route.
