🍓 A heartfelt THANK YOU to all of the wonderful producers throughout West Virginia who entered berries into the West Virginia Strawberry Festival Berry Contests and Auctions this year!

We had an outstanding group of entries, and both our youth and adult judges shared that the berries were absolutely delicious. The competition was very close, which truly speaks to the hard work, quality, and care our growers put into their strawberry crops each season. 🍓❤️

We also want to thank all of our judges for taking the time to participate and help make the contest such a success. From sweetness and appearance to overall quality, they had a very difficult job this year!

Big thanks our auctioneer, volunteers, and everyone who helped behind the scenes throughout the contests and auctions. These events truly take a team effort, and we are so appreciative of everyone who gave their time and talents.

One of the best parts of these auctions is that all proceeds go directly back to the producers, helping support local agriculture and the hardworking farm families who make these events possible. Thank you for continuing to grow, support, and promote agriculture in our communities! 🌱🚜🍓

🍓 Congratulations to our 2026 Sweetest Berry Contest Winner! 🍓

This year’s winning strawberry entry was the “Keepsake” variety from Sunset Berry Farm - Appalachian Market, Adventure Park & Community Garden

We appreciate everyone who participated and helped make the contest such a sweet success during the West Virginia Strawberry Festival. Thank you to all of our growers for showcasing the hard work, quality, and dedication that goes into producing local strawberries.

A special thank you to our 12-year-old youth judges for coming out to taste and judge all of the entries! We hear 12-year-olds are supposed to have the very best taste buds for sweetness, so we appreciated their important role in helping select this year’s winner! 🍓😊

They youth judges tasted each berry entry while also participating in a little Strawberry Festival and berry trivia along the way, making it both a fun and educational experience for everyone involved!

A big thank you and shout out as well to our adult judges and fellow Extension agents who helped place entries in their respective categories. We appreciate all of the teamwork and support that helped make the event a success!
