TSgt Michaela Evans is one of our newest recruiters. This is her 'Why':
"I joined the Air Force because I reached a point in my life where I knew I was capable of more. I had been emancipated at a young age and was working three jobs to put myself through college. I was proud of what I had managed to accomplish on my own, but I also knew that simply surviving was not the same as reaching my potential. Joining the Air Force was a decision to step outside of what was familiar, challenge myself, and prove that my circumstances did not have to define the limits of what I could achieve.
I stayed because leaving home gave me the perspective to recognize the cycle of generational trauma I could have remained trapped in. The Air Force gave me opportunities I never would have imagined for myselfβfrom attending jump school and participating in joint exercises to coaching the Air Force Academy rodeo team. Each experience pushed me beyond another limit I had unknowingly placed on myself. Over time, the Air Force became more than a career; it became a place where I learned just how capable I am, and a lifestyle that I genuinely felt safe in. I stay because this journey continues to remind me that I am capable of becoming far more than the version of myself I once believed was possible, and I only hope to inspire our newest generation to take greater chances on themselves as well.
