Annual Student Information Update
It’s that time of year when we ask families to verify that the information we have on file is correct! We normally complete this process in August/September, but with our transition to the new Skyward system over the summer, this important update was delayed until now.

Please take a few minutes to complete the Annual Student Info Update for each of your students.

💻 How to Complete the Update
1. Visit the Elk Ridge Elementary website.
2. About halfway down the page on the right side, click the “Family Access” button.
3. This will open the Skyward login page.
4. Enter your Skyward login information. Forgot your login or password? Click the “Forgot your Login/Password?” link.
5. Once logged in, click “26-27 Annual Student Info Update."
6. Complete the required information for each student.

We strongly recommend using a computer or laptop. The Annual Student Info Update does not always load or function correctly on a smartphone.

Why Is This Important?
Every year, we ask families to review and update this information because having accurate records is essential for communication and student safety. Please make sure your phone numbers, email addresses, emergency contacts, health information, housing information, and other student information are current.

🍎 Free & Reduced Meal Application
While you are in Family Access, if you have not already completed your Free & Reduced Meal application, please take a moment to do that as well. Your participation helps our district continue to qualify for free breakfast and lunch for all students next year!

A Reminder About Distribution/Opt-Out Choices
We know there has sometimes been confusion about the different information-sharing options in Skyward. Here is what each choice means:

-District: Student information may be shared within the district. This can include student email addresses, rosters, signage, banners, honor roll recognition, and similar school/district uses.

-Public Media: Student information may be shared outside of the district with local or non-local agencies and companies, or in publications available to the general public. This may include social media, newspapers, yearbooks, and other public-facing publications.

⚠️ IMPORTANT: If you choose NOT to allow Public Media, your student's photo will NOT be included in the yearbook.

-Military: Student information may be shared with military recruiters.

-Higher Education: Student information may be shared with institutions of higher education.

CLASS COMPETITION
We’re making this update a little more fun! The first class in K–2 and the first class in 3–5 to have 100% of their Annual Student Info Updates completed will win a pizza or ice cream party!

We can’t wait to be astounded and delighted by our students’ magnificent parade of costumed words! Vocabulary Day is a fun way for students to celebrate the new words they have learned while showing off their creativity.

This year, we will be livestreaming our Vocabulary Day Parade so Elk Ridge families can watch the fun! The livestream link will be shared exclusively with Elk Ridge families through ParentSquare on Thursday, October 29th.

If you do not want your student included in the livestream, please call the office at 360-829-3354 by Wednesday, October 28th. Students who are not opted out by the deadline will be included in the livestream.

How to Participate
-Choose a vocabulary word and create a costume that represents its meaning.
-Each student should have a sign displaying their vocabulary word. It can be attached to the costume or worn around their neck on a string.
-Students should be able to explain the definition of their word and how their costume represents it.
-Costumes must be school-appropriate.

Costume Reminders
-No blow-up costumes.
-No face masks or full-face coverings.
-No weapons or weapon-like props.
-All costumes must be school-appropriate.

Students will parade in their fantastic word-inspired costumes, bringing vocabulary to life through creativity and learning. We look forward to celebrating their hard work and imagination, both in person and through our family livestream!

Every month, the classroom with the highest percentage of students at school wins our Star Attendance award and gets to choose a spirit day for the month.

September's winners are Mrs. Lee's 3rd Grade class! They chose Holiday Cheer in October. Bring a little extra sparkle to our school by wearing your favorite festive colors, fun holiday sweaters, or cheerful accessories. Let's spread kindness, joy, and a little holiday magic throughout Elk Ridge.

Meet Our Staff Monday:
Hi, my name is Ms. Lizee and I'm thrilled to be a paraeducator in the RISE program. I'm a White River alum, and earned my Bachelors in Behavioral Science from Grand Canyon University. This will be my 6th year in special education, and I couldn't be more blessed. My boyfriend Matthew and I bought our home a year ago, and have been spending time making it a home. I love the outdoors, spending time with loved ones, thrifting, animals, and coffee.

We are excited to announce that we are once again partnering with the Buckley Firefighters Association’s Christmas Giving Project!

For more than 20 years, the Buckley Firefighters Association has organized a district-wide toy drive to support children and families in the White River and Carbonado School Districts during the holiday season.

Need a little extra support this Christmas? If your family could use some help this year, please fill out the online request form beginning November 1st.
