Fun fact: The Buckner Police Department will never randomly call you and tell you that you have a warrant. We will also never ask for you to pay for a warrant over the phone using credit cards or gift cards. THIS IS A SCAM. Do not pay anyone over the phone for warrants or fines from our police department.

Please pass this message along to neighbors and friends. It is not just the elderly that are being targeted, but any citizen with a phone number. If something doesn't seem right, feel free to call us. We hate scammers and love nothing more than to thwart their plans 😊

P.S. if you DO know that you have a warrant, come on in and we can get it taken care of too! 😉

Do you know me?? The Buckner Police Department would like to speak to me regarding some thefts from Storage Doctors Self Storage located at 1211 S Sibley Street. I drive a white Mitsubishi SUV that I conveniently took the license plates off before I hung out at the storage facility. If you happen to know my name, could you do me a favor and let the Buckner Police Department know? I hear they would be grateful for any information. Okay, thanks. BYYYEEEEEE!

All joking aside, the Buckner Police Department is in fact seeking the public's help in identifying the person in the pictures below. On 9/26/23 during the afternoon, the individual mentioned was captured on video at a unit that was subsequently found burglarized after their departure. We are aware of 9 units that were hit yesterday; however, there could be more, as folks check on their units. We are asking the public's help for all information regarding this incident. Please contact us at our station by calling 816-650-3939 during normal business hours thru the work week. Any other time, call 816-795-1960 for the non-emergency line to our wonderful dispatch center to be put thru to an officer.

Stay safe folks, and have a great day.

UPDATE: Both individuals came and claimed their wallets. No tickets, no arrests, no nefarious reason to lure them into our station. Just a result of good people doing a good thing in returning property that wasn't theirs. We were just the go between in the transaction. Have a wonderful evening, Buckner. 😊

We are looking for two subjects who had their wallets turned into us today.. below are their names and city that their licenses come back to. If you know them, please let them know we have their wallet and to come on by and pick it up.

Logan McNamara, Buckner
Ashley Thieman, Napoleon

We will only release the wallets to the owners, so they will need to come personally.

Have a good day everyone!

Our hearts are devastated for the loss of our former officer, Jonah Oswald. Officer Oswald succumbed to his injuries on August 7th, 2023. Like any true hero does, he responded to a call for help from another jurisdiction on August 6th, 2023 that resulted in gun fire being exchanged on scene and Officer Oswald being transported to the hospital in critical condition. He left this world surrounded by family and friends the next day. If you personally knew Jonah, you would know that that is the way he would want to go. Surrounded by love.

Officer Oswald started his career with us in July of 2018 as a Road Patrol Officer and ended his career with us as a Reserve Officer in September of 2021. During his time with us, Officer Oswald was also military personnel, a family man, as well as a member of the Fairway Police Department in Fairway, KS. We have had many officers come and go from our department, but only one Jonah Oswald. Some officers say that he was a very optimistic person and didn't know how to have a bad day. He loved encouraging people to reach their goals in life, and he would always offer help wherever you needed him. A previous command staff member even said that Officer Oswald was his favorite all-time officer! (But don't tell the rest of them that..). He was the best of us, and he will be missed incredibly by all those who knew him.

Please keep Officer Oswald, his wife and two children, Fairway Police Department, and any who called him friend, in your prayers.

Rest in peace Officer Jonah Oswald. We've got the watch from here, brother. Until Valhalla.
