Sheriff's Office parking lot

The parking lot at the Sheriff's Office is being sealed today. The Stetzer Rd. entrances will be closed. Anyone coming to the Sheriff's Office should come in from Mansfield St., by the Title Office / Solid Waste Management and park out front by the flagpole. Sorry for the inconvenience.

ROAD CLOSURE

New Wi******er Center Road will be closed between Martel Road and the Crawford-Marion county line starting today for one week due to a culvert repair. No traffic will be able to get through.

We had a snapping turtle show up tonight for Bible study in the jail. He was not allowed in the building. He was named Raphael and relocated to a spot away from traffic and the public by Sgt. Cottrill and staff.

Drug related traffic stop

On May 25, 2026 at 0929 hrs., the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office concluded a narcotic investigation by conducting a traffic stop on a 2014 Dodge Grand Caravan on S.R. 100 near Monnett New Wi******er Rd. The driver was later identified as Nathan Brady, age 46, who was the target of the investigation. The passenger was identified as Waylon James age, 35.

Deputies discovered approximately 56 grams of methamphetamines, drug paraphernalia and currency during the traffic stop.

Nathan Brady and Waylon James were both transported to the Crawford County Justice Center without incident and are being held on charges of Possession of Drugs F2.

Reports will be forwarded to the Crawford County Prosecutor’s Office for consideration of additional charges.

Annual 6th Grade D.A.R.E. Rally. Big Thank you to AEP for help sponsoring the Rally. Also Big Thank You to East of Chicago Galion. Jones Potato Chips. Louie Katona IV (DJ). Jim Basketball Jones. And Deputy Petrie (K9)Nora. Deputy Martin had 8 schools in attendance. Roughly 450 student plus teachers and Aids. The students had a whole day of fun at the fairgrounds. Great Big Thank from Deputy Martin to Sheriff Kent. I would like to Thank Sheriff Kent for believing in this program and believing in the kids of Crawford County. This marks 36 years of the program.
