Holmes Township Volunteer Fire Department Our volunteers provide fire/EMS response to Holmes Twp. and EMS backup to Bucyrus & our EMS district.

Sunday afternoon we responded to a report of storm damage on Spore Brandywine Road between Flickinger and S.R. 4. Along with tree damage in the area, a pole barn and house received considerable damage. The Crawford County Emergency Management Agency was notified, and conducted a damage assessment in the area. EMA will consult with the National Weather Service to determine the extent of severe weather that occurred when the damage happened. We are grateful no one was hurt in today's storm.

UPDATE...ROAD IS OPEN AS OF 4:00 p.m.

Spore-Brandywine Road is CLOSED until further notice between State Routes 4 and 19 due to storm damage.

The National Weather Service has issues a Severe Thunderstorm Watch for our area, in effect until 8:00 p.m. Conditions are right for severe weather to occur, and radar indicates stormy weather is approaching. Be prepared to take shelter, if necessary.

We provided mutual aid to Bucyrus Fire Department for a house fire Wednesday evening. The fire was mostly contained to the kitchen. Squad 275 stood by at BFD station for EMS coverage, and Engine 273 assisted at the scene.

We assisted Wyandot East V.F.D at a structure fire in downtown Nevada. We were dispatched at exactly 12:00 a.m. Monday, and returned to our station around 2:00 a.m. and cleaned the equipment we used. Our thoughts and prayers are with the residents whose apartments were affected, and we are grateful no one was hurt.

We assisted Bucyrus Fire Department on Saturday with a structure fire inside the former Swan Rubber Company plant on the south end of the building. We were dispatched at 10:09 a.m. and left the scene just after 2pm. Othe departments on scene were Crestline, Galion, and Marion. Thank you Red Cross for our lunch.

We assisted Wyandot East V.F.D Thursday night with a semi-trailer on fire on US 30 in the westbound lanes near the county line. There were no injuries. Westbound traffic was diverted onto Lincoln Highway until the scene was cleared.
