NO ACTIVE ATTACK IN BUDA

We are aware that the Hays County Sheriff's Office was conducting active attack response training this evening and that Mavericks Dance Hall Buda was used as a mock location on the law enforcement radio.

This radio traffic has been picked up by scanners, and individuals have posted on social media that this is a real event.
It is not.

There is no active shooter or active attack situation in Buda at Maverick's. There was no training being conducted on the physical premises of the business. This was a training scenario.

HCSO and Buda PD remain committed to training for real life scenarios to keep our residents and visitors safe.

Let us never forget. Today we remember and honor.

SHOOTING IN BUDA TIED TO AUSTIN SHOOTING SPREE

BUDA, TEXAS, MAY 22, 2026 – Detectives with the Buda Police Department, in coordination with the Austin Police Department, concluded that a shooting that occurred in the 500 block of Main Street in Buda on Sunday, May 17, 2026 was tied to the shooting spree that occurred in south Austin between Saturday, May 16, 2026, and Sunday, May 17, 2026.

On Sunday, May 17, just after 5:00 a.m, officers with the Buda Police Department Patrol Division were dispatched to a business on Main Street for a burglary alarm with a glass break sensor as the point of activation. When officers arrived, they observed several bullet casings and damage to the business’ glass windows and interior and exterior walls. Buda Police Department detectives used physical evidence, as well as Flock Safety camera data, to tie the Austin and Buda shooting incidents together. The business was not occupied at the time and there are no reports of injuries.

At this time, the offense being investigated is Deadly Conduct (Penal Code §22.05), a third degree felony punishable by two to ten years in prison and fines up to $10,000. Other charges may be added in the near future.

Anyone with new information regarding this incident is encouraged to contact Detective Raul Valdez at [email protected] or send an anonymous tip through the Hays County Crime Stoppers by calling 1-800-324-TIPS(8477).
This information is preliminary and subject to change as the investigation is ongoing.
