Happy National Dog Day! 🐶🌭

And what better day to tell the story of how Buda became the Wiener Dog Capital of Texas?

It wasn’t a branding campaign. It wasn’t a master plan. It started in 1997 with a small fundraiser dreamed up by the Buda Lions Club.

Nearly three decades later, that little race has become one of Buda’s most beloved traditions — bringing together hundreds of dachshunds, their humans and an entire community for a day of races, costumes, pet parades, food, vendors and plenty of four-legged fun.

Somehow, somewhere along the way, wiener dogs became part of Buda’s identity. And honestly? We wouldn’t have it any other way. 🌭🐾

Because Buda’s love for wiener dogs wasn’t manufactured. It was earned — one short-legged, big-personality dog at a time.
