Two sidewalk improvement projects will soon begin along RM 967 and Cabela’s Drive to address gaps in the existing sidewalk network. These improvements will provide safer and more convenient pedestrian access between neighborhoods, businesses, schools, and recreational destinations, including Buda Championship Park.

Construction begins in September 2026, and both projects are expected to be completed by the end of February 2027.

No road closures or flagging operations are expected, but minimal traffic impacts may occur due to heavy equipment moving in and out of the area.

The improvements include:
- Cabela's Drive: From the Crestview RV entrance to Rylander Street (contractor mobilization begins Sept. 2, 2026)
- RM 967: From the McDonald's entry to Buda Sportsplex Drive (contractor mobilization begins Sept. 21, 2026)

Thank you for your patience during construction as we work to improve mobility and connectivity for everyone.

Do you know what goes into building a city budget? It’s actually really cool!

Think of the budget like a LEGO set. Before you can start putting the pieces together, you need a plan, a vision for what you’re building, and a good idea of which pieces you’ll need along the way.

Every five years, Buda City Council approves a Strategic Plan that helps establish the community’s priorities. Those priorities guide policy decisions, and those policy decisions help determine budget decisions. But the Strategic Plan isn’t the only set of instructions we use to build Buda’s future.

The City Council also considers other important plans that guide decisions about transportation, parks, infrastructure, and more, including:
🔵The Comprehensive Plan
🔵The Parks & Trails Master Plan
🔵The Transportation Mobility Master Plan
🔵The Wastewater Master Plan.
🔵The Capital Improvement Plan

You can check out these plans and more at the City’s Comprehensive & Long-Range Plans page: https://www.budatx.gov/177/Comprehensive-Long-Range-Plans

Once these plans are in place, the annual budget process is where the pieces really start coming together. Through multiple public meetings, City Council reviews the community’s needs, considers the City’s plans, and identifies its priorities for the coming year.

For Fiscal Year 2027, City Council identified four top priorities:
🔵Public Safety
🔵Parks and Trails
🔵Utility Infrastructure
🔵Mobility Improvements

A city budget isn’t something City Council builds alone. Residents have a seat at the table, too.

Residents are invited to provide comments on the proposed budget and tax rate during the public hearings scheduled for the September 1 and September 15 City Council meetings at 6 p.m. at City Hall. Your input is an important piece of the build.

Want to see how the City turns your tax dollars into critical infrastructure, programs, events, and services? Visit www.budatx.gov/budget to explore the proposed Fiscal Year 2027 budget and learn more about how all the pieces fit together.

And yes, it’s LEGO-themed this year. Because building a city budget is serious business, but we think it’s okay to have a little fun while putting the right pieces together.

BUDA, TEXAS, AUGUST 26, 2026 - The Buda City Council recently accepted a total of $3 million in investment from the Buda Economic Development Corporation (EDC) to support the expansion of Buda Championship Park and grow sports tourism in Buda.

The investment includes two $1.5 million contributions, with the most recent approved by the Buda EDC Board on May 11, 2026, to help offset construction costs, following an earlier contribution that supported design and pre-construction work. An eight-year performance agreement between the City and Buda EDC establishes shared goals for attracting tournaments and generating economic activity in the community.

The redevelopment is designed to create a tournament-ready sports destination. Once complete, Buda Championship Park will be able to host up to 112 softball or baseball teams over a three-day tournament and will offer eight softball fields with adjustable base lines, 20 batting cages, and NCAA Division I sand-draining surfaces, lighted for evening play. Built for high-level competition, the fields can accommodate softball through the collegiate level and baseball through 12U. Additional improvements include four re-sodded fields for soccer, flag football, and other field sports, more than 800 parking spaces, and controlled gate entry for event ticketing.
