A burn ban is now in effect in the unincorporated areas of Hays County, beginning Aug. 11, 2026 and continuing through Sept. 29, 2026, unless otherwise authorized by the Commissioners Court.

🚫 During the burn ban, outdoor burning is prohibited in affected unincorporated areas. Please help protect our communities and reduce the risk of wildfires by following the burn ban and avoiding activities that could spark a fire.

Country Lane Well #3 has received a conditional approval from TCEQ and has been brought online. PGMS is currently servicing our wells.

🚨 WEST NILE VIRUS DETECTED IN BUDA 🚨
Hays County Development Services (HCDS) Mosquito Surveillance Program has received confirmation from the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) that a mosquito trap sample collected in the 78610 ZIP code has tested positive for West Nile Virus (WNV). The positive sample was collected from a site in Buda on July 30, 2026. This is the fifth West Nile Virus-positive mosquito pool reported by Hays County during the 2026 season. At this time, no human cases of West Nile Virus have been reported in Hays County.

Help protect yourself and your family by remembering the 3 Ds:
🦟 DEFEND – Use EPA-approved insect repellent.
πŸ‘• DRESS – Wear long, loose-fitting, light-colored clothing outdoors.
πŸ’§ DRAIN – Remove standing water where mosquitoes can breed.
