AVM 250 ANNIVERSARY CHALLENGE COINS

For coin collectors, history buffs, veterans and anyone looking for a meaningful keepsake to mark America's 250th birthday, the All Veterans Memorial in Budd Lake has created a limited-edition challenge coin that is as rare as it is symbolic.
As communities across the nation celebrate America's 250th anniversary, AVM Founder Charlie Uhrmann custom designed this one-of-a- kind challenge coin to commemorate the country’s milestone of “One Nation Under God,” says Uhrmann. So rare, there are only 250 pieces available to the public.
Each coin will be registered with the number it came out of production, in addition to a signed Certificate of Authenticity, she adds.
“The coins are not only unique, but extremely meaningful,” says Uhrmann. “The medallions would make an excellent gift.”
She describes her masterpiece: “The commemorative medallion takes on the same contour as the AVM’s Memorial Medallion which was designed to replicate the main ceremonial complex. The 2.5" / 3mm brushed silver coin has 3D high quality enameled colored images on both sides.
“The front of the medallion proudly displays our nation’s Great Seal of the United States, E pluribus unum, the AVM’s five-star logo and the seven branches of service,” adds Uhrmann. “The shield mid-point of the Great Seal is the same shield of faith as the backside of the coin.”
The back of the coin is also custom designed by Uhrmann.
“The back depicts a faithful warrior kneeling in prayer— wearing the breastplate of righteousness, the belt of truth, shoes of peace, shield of faith, helmet of salvation and the sword of the spirit,” describes Uhrmann. “The circular border quotes Ephesians 6-10: ‘Put on the full armor of God.’”
Uhrmann dives deeper into the meaning behind the symbols on the coin.
“Each unique symbol on the coin was specifically selected to make up the design,” she says.
“The actual sword and shield depicted on the front and back of the coin are hanging on my wall,” says Uhrmann. “Take notice that I customized the U.S. Seal by replacing the flag with the shield of faith because I am sincerely worried about the direction we are heading as a nation, as a people—our faith in God may be the only thing that will sustain us.”
Uhrmann also placed the AVM's logo above the head of the eagle and used poppies on the coin.
“One of the poppies within the poppies is an actual photo of the first original poppy made for me when I was creating the Founding Members awards,” says Uhrmann. “The photo of the original poppy is embedded into the poppies on the front and back of the coin.”
The folded flag located mid-center of the front of the coin is a replica of the folded flag that is displayed "On Behalf of a Grateful Nation" monument, on the left, right before entering into the NorthStar Seating area, details Uhrmann.
“No one knows this—however, you will notice the AVM's folded flag shows the stripes of the flag—that is what makes it uniquely ours,” she says.
“The "On Behalf of a Grateful Nation" quote along the top of the coin has been our motto since the beginning,” so that was included on the coin. “The quote "As we express our gratitude" is the quote at the first placard near the Path to Enduring Freedom.
“The One Nation Under God depicts the year that the All Veterans Memorial and We the People's First Amendment, freedom of religion, was gracefully restored,” she says. “This was extremely important to me.”
Uhrmann also repeated a characteristic from the AVM’s first coin on purpose. “I used the exact contour of our original coin, not only for prosperity’s sake—but for those who supported the AVM from the very beginning,” she concludes. “Since the beginning, I maintained a list of unwavering supporters of the AVM. From major sponsors to keynote speakers— who were gifted a challenge coin as a way to show my appreciation. Though there will only be 250 commemorative coins available to the public, I ordered 50 additional coins to send to them to show that even though years have passed— I remain grateful to them. I personally feel having the two coins is special.”
The coins will be sold on a first come, first serve basis. We already have more than 100 coins reserved. The cost has been set as a 25.00 donation to the All Veterans Memorial non-profit organization. Coins will be ready for pick-up during the AVM’s 250th Anniversary / National 24 Hour POW/MIA Candle Light Vigil.
