Road Closure Notice - Pleasant Hill Road Bridge Replacements Begin Monday, August 31, 2026

No Through Traffic on Pleasant Hill Road in Mount Olive; Separate Detours for Cars and Trucks . Pleasant Hill Road in the Flanders section of Mount Olive Township will be closed to through traffic beginning Monday, Aug. 31, after the morning rush hour, as Morris County replaces two bridges over Drakes Brook.
The bridge closures will require motorists to follow a signed detour via Reger Road and Ironia Road. Truck traffic will be directed on a separate detour via Furnace Road and Route 206.
The project is expected to take approximately four months to complete, weather permitting.
The two existing bridges, located adjacent to each other near the Flanders Valley Golf Course, have deteriorated over time and require replacement. The bridge closest to the north side of Pleasant Hill Road, nearest to Ironia Road, was built in 1900 and has severe rusting and section loss in its steel beams. The second bridge, built in 1940, also has rusting steel beams as well as voids in its foundations.
The circa 1900 bridge will be replaced with a prestressed concrete beam bridge with a concrete deck, stone-faced parapets and wingwalls. The circa 1940 bridge will receive a three-sided precast concrete frame with precast wingwalls and bridge railings, topped with an asphalt overlay.
Motorists should anticipate delays and are advised to drive with caution. Alternate routes are encouraged during construction.
The $2,608,664 project is being completed by Konkus Corporation of Hillsborough, N.J., under contract with Morris County.

Utility Companies to Conduct Trench Resurfacing Work Beginning August 25

Utility companies will begin paving and resurfacing work on Tuesday, August 25, with work anticipated to conclude on Friday, August 28.
The work will consist of resurfacing roadway trenches associated with recent gas utility work. The paving activities are intended to restore the affected portions of the roadway and improve the condition of the trench areas.
The work is scheduled to take place on the following streets:
Western Drive
Wallman Way
Mountain View Place
Tamarack Road
Clearwater Road
Ridge Road
Falcon Drive
Wilstow Road
Whipporwill Road
Chickadee Road
Manor House Road
Myrtle Road
Stonehouse Road
Pine Grove Road
Toboggan Hill Road
Dogwood Drive
St. Johns Road
St. James Road
St. Pauls Road
Lake Shore Drive
Full road closures are not anticipated. Motorists should, however, expect temporary traffic impacts, including possible lane restrictions, brief delays, and the presence of paving crews and equipment in the roadway.
Drivers are encouraged to use caution when traveling through active work areas, follow posted signage and directions from traffic-control personnel, and allow additional travel time when necessary.
The schedule is weather dependent and may be adjusted if conditions require. Residents are asked to be mindful of work crews and equipment while the resurfacing work is underway.
The municipality appreciates residents' patience and cooperation as this necessary roadway restoration work is completed.

Road Closure Notice - Wolfe Road

Road closure on Wolfe Road between Flanders-Drakestown Road and Cassedy Road. Wolfe Road is scheduled to be milled and paved between Thursday, August 6, 2026, and Monday, August 10, 2026, weather permitting.
Milling Operations – Thursday, August 6
Wolfe Road will be reduced to one-way traffic with alternating traffic patterns between approximately 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
Paving Operations – Friday, August 7, and Monday, August 10
Wolfe Road will be closed in both directions between 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
Residents of Aldersgate Circle, Highfield Court, and Cambridge Court should anticipate intermittent access to and from their neighborhoods during paving operations. There will be periods when these roadways cannot be accessed until the newly placed asphalt has sufficiently cooled and cured to safely accommodate vehicle traffic.
Residents who anticipate needing access during these times are encouraged to park their vehicles at the Mount Olive Township Municipal Building before construction begins.
In addition, residents of Kings Village and Stedwick Village may be detoured through Eagle Rock Village during construction.
Motorists are encouraged to use alternate routes, follow all posted detours and traffic control devices, and expect minor delays throughout the project.
Upon completion of paving, a new traffic pattern will be striped to improve safety and traffic flow along the corridor.
We appreciate your patience and cooperation as we complete these roadway improvements. Please drive carefully and exercise caution when traveling through the work zone.
