Great times were had by all today at The Coffee House! Coffee with Carlo (the cop) had bonus guests today, as Officer Taulbee, Office Services Supervisor Lua, and Chief D'Arelli stopped by to talk with the public about all the CHP has to offer! If you look at the next photo closely, you will see big Carlo and lil Carlo ready to work! That's right, we brought slap bracelets, coloring books, and a bobblehead of Carlo the Cop!

Section 731 of the California Streets and Highways Code states the following:

Any vehicle or structure parked or placed wholly or partly within any state highway, for the purpose of selling the same or of selling therefrom or therein any article, service or thing, is a public nuisance and the department may immediately remove that vehicle or structure from within any highway.

Any person parking any vehicle or placing any structure wholly or partly within any highway for the purpose of selling that vehicle or structure, or of selling therefrom or therein any article or thing, and any person selling, displaying for sale, or offering for sale any article or thing either in or from that vehicle or structure so parked or placed, and any person storing, servicing, repairing or otherwise working upon any vehicle, other than upon a vehicle which is temporarily disabled, is guilty of a misdemeanor.

The photos are from SR-246 west of Refugio Road. Be advised, due to public safety concerns, both vehicular and pedestrian, no more vehicle sales or food vending will be allowed on State Routes in the Buellton area. Warnings will be issued and enforcement will commence later this week.

Coastal Division Assistant Chief D'Arelli and Special Services Captain Zivic ran in the Special Olympics Law Enforcement Torch Run today, in partnership with California State Parks. In all, they logged 10 miles along US 101, running from Refugio State Beach to Goleta!

It will be here before you know it! Coffee with Carlo (The Cop) is coming up on Tuesday, June 9, at The Coffee House. Buellton CHP invites you to come see Carlo in action between 9-11 AM. This Memorial Day, the Buellton Area partnered with our Coastal Division Commercial Unit to conduct an enforcement operation on SR-154, near US-101. The CHP; providing safety, service, and security, in partnership with our local communities, since 1929.

Congratulations to local minor celebrity and former Buellton Area Commander, Eric Zivic. When he isn't busy being the Special Services Captain in San Luis Obispo, he likes to run....... a lot. Eric is a member of the CHP Elite running team, and he took the opportunity to participate last weekend in the Santa Barbara Wine Country Half Marathon, maintaining a 6:39 pace for the 13.1 mile race. Not too shabby, keep running Eric! Shout out to Officers Hernandez, Hall, Youngblood, Arellanes, and Taulbee for encouraging the runners and providing safety and security during the race.

Well, he did it again.....This evening Officer Hall collected his second award of the week! The Santa Barbara Citizen's Council on Crime awarded Toby the H. Thomas Guerry Superior Performance Award! Officer Hall is a 3-time previous winner of this prestigious award and that is a testament to his work ethic, consistency, and professionalism. We are proud of Toby and his well-deserved recognition! Also, congratulations to Officer Barriga (Superior Performance) and Officer Ayala (Valor) of the Santa Maria and Santa Barbara CHP Area Offices on their awards!
